After seeing many highly positive reviews on this website (which other reviewers state are fake, and I can see why), I chose Discover Moving after getting a very competitive quote. My primary contact (Liz) was courteous and prompt in responding to all my questions (initially), and my movers arrived on time on the scheduled day. My main mover (Chris) was very professional, friendly, and courteous. After the pick-up, though, things went downhill...
I prepaid by credit card to avoid the inconvenience of paying upon arrival (credit card not accepted at that time). As we moved from St. Louis to California without yet finding a home, our stuff went to the company storage in North Carolina. We found a place in less than a week, and after giving them the address, did not see our stuff again for another 18 days... technically "on time" as the contract states a "1 to 21 day" move time from coast to coast (even though we started in the midwest...) - though terribly inconvenient not to have our stuff before I started my new job. Additionally, most -if not all- of my phone calls/emails (which were so promptly returned before payment) went unanswered after our arrival in CA. I even got verbal assurance from 3 different people that they would send me a receipt (for my reimbursement purposes) for the additional $461 charge (based on weight) - but never got this. When our stuff finally did arrive, a few items were broken (two lamps, CD shelf, coat rack) and missing (metal bracket for crib mattress support - they disassembled and reassembled, but this missing part meant we can't use our crib until we get a replacement part from the crib manufacturer). Again emailed about this and... no response. Wish I would have chosen more carefully...
