Bait and Switch

Having moved 14 times, mostly with the military, we've had some bad moves. It goes with the territory. This move was criminal. The company does a bait and switch. The original call and estimates are great. They were responsive and seemed genuinly conserned for our interests. Then the movers show up. The first things brought up are the suggested tip/gratuity. They pressure you for a 10% in cash tip on the spot. Then the excuses come with cost overruns. OK, part of the business. The real pressure is to sign a document saying the company is only liable for .60 per pound and to get more insurance will cost $1500 for a shipment that was only suppose to cost less than $1300. My daughters stuff hits the road and gets there with all valuables stolen (flat screen TV, electronics) as well as several boxes, and most of the boxes opened and rifled through. The folks delivering it had no paperwork, only dropped it off, demanded the $600 check agreed to for the receiving end and took off. The company will not take your call for a claim or a complaint. They 3rd party it out to a "MovingClaims.net", who you will never get to talk to. All communication with them is by signed, often notorized, certified mail. They'll send you an e-mail after weeks of processing, but will only allow snail mail back. These guys do the company no justice as they only focus on getting you to sign a Global Release of Liability. They come across as bullying lawyers who sole purpose is to get you to go away. It matters not what info you put in the claim, because you are forced to sign the .60 per pound or they won't pick up your stuff is what they focus on. Order number #549583 I don't even care that I'm out a couple of grand. This organization has parts that are disengenuious and dishonest. You feel all the love at the beginning, but certainly not after you give them money.
