ROBBED AND 75% DAMAGES TO FURNITURE

IF I COULD GIVE A LOWER RATING THAN POOR, I CERTAINLY WOULD! We have moved several times by professional movers and this was by far the WORST. ONE OF THE ABF PACKERS STOLE OUR CREDIT CARDS AND RAN UP OVER 2K IN TWO DAYS. We were overcharged for the second trailer because it was packed out instead of up (they charge by linear feet). This added approximately another $3K (over the original estimate) to our final bill. There was an individual named Meredith (arrogant, condescending, and rude) with ABF U-Pack/Movebuilders at the Arkansas Headquarters who would not listen to us about the unacceptable packing of the second trailer, but also the people who unloaded the trailer. Even the drivers said it was estimated and packed incorrectly. Our furniture was damaged because the trailers were loaded incorrectly and were was tied up with twine instead of bulk-heads to secure the stability of the load. A lamp shade to a very expensive Stiffel lamp was stuffed into a box and totally destroyed. This was packed by ABF U-Pack. An Elk statute of substantial size and value was a 25th wedding anniversary gift (again packed by U-Pack) was unrepairably damaged along with other family heirlooms. The list goes on and on. A conservative estimate was 75% of our household goods were dented, scratched, or broken. When our belongings arrived in Wisconsin, the individuals unloading our belongings started to point out the damages to our furniture, etc., acknowledging the poor packing and the shifting of the load. We contacted Meredith with ABF U-Pack about all of the damages and she in turn contacted the supervisor of the unloaders and told him to relay to the individuals doing the unloading to STOP POINTING OUT DAMAGES TO US. We finally settled our damage claims with U-Pack/Movebuilders. They sent "Furniture Dr." to repair the scratches, chips and dents in the furniture. You can definitely still see where he did the unacceptable repairs. Another debacle was dealing with the claims. The claims adjuster could not even add the claim numbers correctly, and entirely missed claims which were reported. He was non-responsive to our e-mails. We had to e-mail three times before he would respond. Also, we had to repeatedly contact him for corrections for the errors he had made. A word to the wise, BEWARE OF ABF-U Pack/Movebuilders or whoever they are! Make sure you have background checks on the packers/unpackers whomever you select to move your personal possessions.
