I have been moved three times, once from Michigan to Georgia, once from Georgia to Ohio and now from Ohio to Washington state. The first two moves were with companies chosen by my company. The last mover was chosen by me, and I went with America's Moving Services.
The appraiser was comparable to others I had spoken with, but as we were closing the conversation after I had accepted a contract, I got my first hint that this move was going to be different. During my 35 year career, in meetings, we would be sure that every issue raised had an "owner" at the end of the meeting. Here was a moving company with a person who "owned" my move.
Sure enough the first of several calls from "Eric" began shortly after the contract signing, to set a schedule. The day before the move he called twice, once to let me know when the packers would arrive and again to let me know when the truck would arrive. Both the packers and the drivers with the truck arrived almost to the minute of the time I was told to expect them. Eric called again three times during the course of the packing and loading to be sure that I had no problems and that things were moving to my satisfaction
The next series of surprises came when I watch the gentlemen pack and load my belongings. Did you know that upholstered furniture can be shrink-wrapped? I had not seen anything like this on my first two moves with other companies, but all of my chairs and couches were shrink-wrapped before even going out of the house. Next another surprise. There are boxes for mattresses and box springs!!! Never saw any of these before in other moves, but all three beds were carefully packaged in this material prior to being taken out to the truck.
The moving people who actually made the move for me were delightful guys. Very polite and extremely careful with everything they touched, but also good-humored and we had a very interesting conversation as they worked.
This morning they arrived in Seattle and off-loaded all of the goods. Everything was placed exactly as I asked in the house, and there was not a mark on anything.
My move was as smooth as could be and all I can say is that having been moved twice before, I was "third time lucky" to have chosen America's Moving to entrust with this move. If circumstances arose, I would use them again in a heartbeat.
