Very happy with the outcome of the move

Americas moving service did our move June 19th in Tucson going to Memphis and it took 9 days to deliver which was expected and very reasonable time for a move going 1400 miles but our problem was not timing it was the additional cost for a shuttling fee charged when the truck arrived in Memphis and could not access our apartment complex. We were told up front and the verbage was int he contract and important reminder section of the paperwork about tractor trailer access and additional charges but we didn't know that a huge truck couldnt fit into our new place how were we supposed to know? The movers that came to our home in Arizona were incredible, they were fast, polite, professional, and packed the truck like you couldnt believe, when the same guys showed up in Memphis and as soon as they pulled up to the gate we all knew there would be an issue. When they asked me about tractor trailer access in the beginning we said it was fine because we didnt know how big this truck really was until we saw it and later found out it was almost 80 feet long in total. The driver Gene was great and maneuvered the truck incredibly, when he got to our complex there was no way the truck could fit and after much walking around the complex they found that the only option was a smaller truck that they had to rent and move the items back and forth a few times. Needless to say, we were not thrilled about the extra cost even if it was neccessary. Our weight was 9,200 lbs. and they said the fee was $700.00 and even though our weight and price was less then the original quote it was going to now be $400 more with the shuttle. We called and spoke to the owner, Eric and he said there was no way around it. In all fairness, they did tell us about the potential for the extra charge and when they showed up there was no way around it, unfortunately, someone had to pay but we didn't feel that it was fair. Back and forth we went with Eric and finally he dropped the $700.00 fee to $550.00 for the shuttle. We felt we could live with that. We paid the bill and tipped Gene and Alan $50.00 each for the move and have since referred a neighbor and another teacher from my new school and recieved $50.00 for each of the 2 referrals. Very happy.
