DO NOT USE IF YOU ARE A WOMAN AND YOU HAVE YOUNG KIDS
As a Christian I don’t like lying about stuff, I used Compass Van Line to move from Texas to New York in December 2012, This was the worst moving company I have ever come across, this people kept my things for more than a month, given that they knew that I had kids, My young one was just seven month, and they made us suffer for one month in New York Winter, without our medicines, beddings, school books or even television. I was promised delivery within one week after pick up, but ones they took my stuff and had ¾ of payment, they did not care, whenever I called to inquire their where about , I got their dispatch department, or a driver with a Russian accent, who either insulted you or hang up on you. After three weeks, I had lost hope of ever seeing my staff; I had to spend money replacing most of them, while waiting on compass van lines.
Christmas my children were lying on a hard cold floor in New York winter, and when I called them, the person told me that he was on holyday with his family, their quoted price doubled up during pick up, with one driver and the delivery driver was also a different guy who wanted more money because he felt that he had to pack his truck a few steps from my new place. This company mistreated me, and I have never felt helpless as a woman alone with kids. They are very sweet, when they want your business, they will promise you timely delivery, show you that they care about your kids, until you sign their form, and then they will try to make you choose the cheapest insurance protection.
My advice:
• Make sure you take full coverage
• Do not pay them more money from the beginning; wait till you get your stuff
• If possible try other movers such ABF, you will still end up paying the same amount with compass van lines, but at least ABF will be on time when they say they will be.
• Look at their contract it favors them completely
