Over $8000 in damaged furniture

I have moved 4 times in the last 6 years and and never seen so much damage as I did with MoveBuilders. First, they subcontract out the labor, so your experience may be different in another state. But the people who they used in eastern Pennsylvania were terrible. I had 3 tables just completely smashed and destroyed, coffee table, 2 armoires, 5 chairs, a bookcase, and a large office desk serieously dented and scratched so that repairs will be very expensive. They did not properly protect my off-white sofa and so it has ground-in dirt and the fibers were damaged. They were supposed to wrap all wooden furniture in paper--but on some pieces they opted to use 1 thin layer of plastic, which easily tore through and completely ruined the finish on some furniture. The furniture they did wrap in paper, they didn't even bother to protect the legs or bottom (just covered the tops of tables, for example) and so all of them got ruined. To insure that they ruined everything, they chose to stack very heavy, small boxes of books on top of light-weight items labeled "fragile." That is how my 3 tables were broken into bits--they threw heavy stuff on top of them. The people who unpacked the trailer came and got me to see how poorly it was packed--they'd never seen anything so bad. I have filed a rather substantial claim with their insurance, but I already know they pay pennies. If you must use them--and I recommend not using them--but, if you must, be sure to buy all the best insurance you can, because you will need it!
