Strong Man for Hire We moved from California to North Dakota. We hired a national drop ship trucking company to haul our belongings. The trucking company recommended Experienced Moving Labor for our labor needs. We hired them to find us local movers. They hired Strong Man for Hire, specifically Ameao Beasley. Unfortunately, Ameao Beasley was busy with another job, so he sent his son Ameao Beasley Jr. He was over 30 minutes late. Other than that, moving day went fine. However, when our stuff arrived in North Dakota we found that a bunch of our furniture was scratched, and a box of my grandma’s China, clearly marked, was put on the bottom of a stack, crushing three tea cups. We had professional movers help us with the unloading process, and they commented several times on how terribly the trailer was packed. We contacted both companies to let them know about the damage. We heard from Experienced Moving Labor right away. However, it was over two weeks before anyone from Strong Man for Hire responded. When they finally did respond, Ameao Jr. told me that he was neither responsible nor liable for the damage to my belongings. He told me that I should contact Experienced Moving Labor, as according to him, they were liable for my property. In his email, he told me that we didn’t have enough space in the trailer or enough blankets to protect our furniture. I replied to his email letting him know that I was extremely dissatisfied with his response. This was the first time he’d ever mentioned either of these things. My husband rented moving blankets, and we packed our household blankets in an accessible box set aside, just in case we needed more. Had Strong Man for Hire mentioned that they needed more blankets, we could have gotten them. Additionally, we could have rented more space in the trailer had he told us that the lack of space would cause damage. However, he didn’t bother to mention any of these things during the move. I told him that as a professional, I would expect him to give us professional advice when problems arose. Experienced Moving Labor then responded and said that his work was unprofessional. Ameao Jr. then called me. He mentioned the emails that he had received from Experience Moving Labor and me, and was upset that we accused him of unprofessional service. I responded, “Sir, a box of clearly marked China was put on the bottom of a stack. Would you call that professional?” He told me that he had no recollection of it. Then I asked him about his lack of advice, and he told me that as a subcontractor he wasn’t responsible to give us any advice. Frustrated, I asked him what the difference between hiring him and hiring a stranger off the street was, and he told me that I didn’t hire him. I hired Experience Moving Labor, and he was just a subcontractor. He told me that he didn’t think I understood how subcontractors work. Apparently, since we didn’t hire him directly, he was not responsible to give us professional service. Since we didn’t hire him directly, there was no difference between his “professional” service and some random person with no moving experience. He made it clear that since I did not have a contract with him, he was not liable or responsible for any of the damage to our property. I forwarded his email to Experienced Moving Labor. They pointed to the contract that I signed with them that specifically states that they are not liable for damage and any damage claims should be discussed with the local movers. At that point, I emailed both parties to let them know that I was tired of the constant blame shift, that I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau, and would be writing reviews every where I could. After, I filed a complaint with the BBB, Ameao Jr. contacted me and offered to refund the money I paid him for the job he did. Even in that email, he made it clear that he was not admitting any wrong doing or fault. I understand that Strong Man for Hire is trying to cover their tracks legally, but the fact is, there was only one company packing our belongings into that trailer, and it was Ameao Jr with Strong Man for Hire. I taught kindergartners and had better luck getting them to accept responsibility for their actions, then I’ve had with Strong Man for Hire. I did agree to accept the refund, but not surprisingly I’ve never seen that check. I highly recommend that you do NOT use this terrible company. There’s nothing professional about their service.
