Rip off!! World Wide Van Lines (Chase) quoted a "Price not to exceed" $3806.95 based upon his estimate of 12,500#. The quote was a non-binding estimate. When I expressed my concern Chase said the "not to exceed" was the best type of quote I could get and they could not charge me any more. When the driver (Red Gold Logistics) arrived for pickup on 1/16 he wanted payment of 1/2 the price before loading. I told him that was not the agreement and called Chase several times before he returned my call. He then called the driver's dispatcher and resolved the issue. While driving across country on 1/19 Red Gold Logistics reached us on our cellphone and said the move would now cost $6622.50. I questioned this and they said the weight was 20550# and that was what we would have to pay or they would not deliver. In a subsequent conversation on 1/20 with Tracy she informed me that I wouuld have to send a payment in the amount lof $3311.25 before they would schedule a delivery, with the balance due, when the truck arrived, in the form of money orders. I asked if they could accept my credit card over the phone as payment and she said no. I agreed to get a payment out through my on-line banking but it would not get to them until 1/25. She said when the check cleared they would schedule the delivery. I then made arrangements for the on-line payment in the amount of $3311.25. Later the same day I received a call from the driver saying he wanted to deliver on Monday 1/23. I told him he had better check with his dispatcher becuase Tracy had told me they would not schedule a delivery until my check for $3311.25 cleared. He called back again and asked me to call his dkispatcher (Simon) who said they wanted to deliver on Monday. I told him if he could schedule the delivery for 10:30 AM or after I would make arrangements to get the funds for the full amount. I then called my on-line banking service back and asked them to stop payment on the check for $3311.25. I was concerned that Red Gold would end up with over $9000.00 of my money if I did not stop payment. On 1/23 I stopped at the post office, on my way to the bank, to determine if they would accept a personal check for the money orders I would need as I did not want to carry $6,600 in cash with me. I was informed that payment would have to be in cash or by debit card. I then went to the bank, verified that my check for $3311.25 had been stopped, transferred funds from savings to checking to cover the full amount. I then went back to the post office to obtain the money orders. To add to my frustration I had to call the bank back, from the post office, because the amount of the money orders exceeded the maximum amount that could be withdrawn on the debit card, even though the funds were there. The bank then increased the amount. Subsequent to delivery I called Chase and "Customer Service" five times (and only got voicemail) and e-mailed them with all of the above details and more and asked them to get back to me. As of today (2/11) I have not heard from them. I know that this has been long-winded but its nice to share my frustration with others who have been ripped off by this company. I too wish I had read the reviews before scheduling a move with World Wide Van Lines.
