Our furniture was picked up on Friday, July 24, 2009 in Vermont.
Our delivery time was 2-14 business days.
We did not receive our furniture until August 18, 2009.
Budget Van Lines did not respond to the phone messages that I left left them requesting help with the late delivery. I was unable to get a delivery date out of the assigned carrier, A-Topps Moving, that Budget retained.
We had to purchase additional furniture so that we would not be without.
When ATOPPS MOVING finally delivered our furniture, it was damaged. The deal with Budget Van Lines was that all furniture would be carefully wrapped. Furniture which had been wrapped when it went into the truck at pick-up location was not rewrapped when Atopps transferred it to another truck for transport to Florida and so the finish on the furniture was completely scraped off all over. They also broke our fine china.
I've placed numerous calls to ATOPPS to begin arbitration process and they are very unresponsive. ATOPPS is associated with US MOVERS ASSOCIATION a company that is supposed to give you an arbitration form. They do not respond to voice mail messages left on their company phone. US Movers Association is not performing their job.
I am in law school surrounded by attorneys, and my professors along with the legal clinic at my school is going to take on this case.
NEVER USE ATOPPS MOVING. NEVER USE BUDGET VAN LINES. BUDGET VAN LINES contracts with other movers to take your furniture and then CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MOVE when you run into trouble. Even though they found the contractor for the move after promising you wonderful service.
