Worst Nightmare

Moved from Cal to Tex in Aug. 2013. My things were delivered more than a week after the maximum wait period (three weeks after my available date at destination) under contract. This company has a totally broken customer service system. No one will ever return your call or email. You basically have to call them almost everyday to remind them that you haven't received your items. Luckily for me, when my things were finally delivered, the movers (hard-working men who actually delivered and unloaded my things) were courteous and professional. My things were delivered pretty much intact (there were scratches and other damages, but I was too relieved and happy to get my things after more than a month since leaving Cal to care about those minor damages). These men were not Air One employees, but movers based in Houston, probably the local company that Air One contracted to handle delivery on this end. Air One (Vicky, General Manager) offered to compensate me for the delay and inconvenience I had to suffer (my wife and I slept on the floor for many days and nothing to cook with), which was a nice gesture in itself. The problem is, I haven't received any check or haven't heard from her or anyone from Air One ever again. I called her office a number of times again to leave messages, but no one ever returned my calls. Overall, what I am upset about is not the fact that I didn't receive the compensation promised to me. It's the lack of professionalism and courtesy. I am in a profession where people move frequently (often long distance). I have seven colleagues that are moving across the country this year alone. I would've gladly given Vicky and Air One more business had she simply returned my calls on time and kept her promise. I don't know how she runs her office when she can't even take care of one customer. No wonder this company is so pathetically dysfunctional. Next time I have to move, I will make sure to avoid cheap movers like Air One and hire a reputable and nationally recognized company, no matter how much more I have to pay.
