This was by far the most awful moving experience we as a family have ever experienced. After this company has your business, their customer service is total crap. They seemed so nice and reasonable during the price quote when they were fighting for your business, but that all changed after they were hired. Patrick has no heart or morals and is "legally" ripping good people off. DO NOT USE this company. I know we never will again. (memorial area, TX) My mother hired All My Sons to move her from her rental house to her new apartment, 7 miles from each other. She called several companies and was under the impression that AMS was the most reasonably priced. The sales associate informed her of the hourly rate ($89 for 2 movers) and the flat fee for the truck. Everything seemed to be going smoothly loading the truck expect it took longer than expected (4 hours). then when they got to the apartments, things progressed even more slowly. Another 3 hours passed and not even half the truck was unloaded. My mother began to worry, as she had only budgeted for a certain amount. No other move had ever taken this long before. We began to wonder if they were purposely going slow to increase their pay. More hours passed and we were still waiting for half of the items to be moved in. She was then approached by one of the movers who informed her that payment was due in full before they could finish moving the rest of her belongings. When she was handed the bill, her jaw hit the floor as the total read $1,587.96 They had only been working for 7 hours but were charging her for 12 hours because they determined the job would take that long to finish... Never in her wildest dreams did she expect a moving company to take this long or to cost this much. This was triple her anticipated price. She then called the sales associate she had originally spoke to, named Patrick, who was apparently the manager or supervisor. She began to ask where this amount came from and how did it add up to that humongous price. Patrick then informed her that after 8 hours, the charge is time and a half, and they would not be done for probably another 4-5 hours. None of this had ever been mentioned before. Patrick then proceeded to threaten my mother that if she did not make the payment within the next 15 minutes, the movers would take her belongings to their storage facility, and more fees would be charged for her to get it back. He was extremely rude, pushy, and unapologetic. My mother was completely blindsided and at a loss, for she did not have that kind of money readily available in her account after having just paid for her first rent, deposit fees, application fees, etc for the apartment itself, not to mention the time taken off from work to move. Police could to nothing for the situation, stating that it was a civil matter and they could not be involved. After a few hours of arguing, debating, stressing, and begging, my mother had no choice but to pay the outrageous fee in order to get her belongings. Patrick at this point was so annoyed that even after my mother gave her card information for the payment, he told his workers to take her things back to the storage facility to be moved at a later date. This aggravated my mother even more because she had now forked out this money and they weren't even going to finish the job. She didn't even have her bed to sleep on. On the phone again, my mother had to plead for Patrick to tell his movers to finish the job. After about an hour, they agreed to finish the job that day. My mother felt completely lied to and taken advantage of. We believe the time aspect was deliberate and premeditated. Their validation and arguing point for the charges was that it was in the paperwork she signed at the beginning of the day, but they had gone through the papers so fast and pushed her to just sign sign sign without reading that she did not have a full understanding. She was not even given a copy for her own records to look over. This is a great example for why you must take the time to read anything you sign, I know we are all guilty of signing without fully reading the material. 12 hours and $1500 later, my mother finally had her belongings in her apartment. This is UNACCEPTABLE.
