First of all, this is not a "family owned" local business as they have advertised. The corporation is owned by a company in Dallas, Texas, and they have offices all over the country that are run by employees. They were two hours late for the move. Three young men showed up with a rented truck, Uhaul blankets, and no tools. They told me that their company trucks were all out on long-distance moves. I was not informed that they did not have any of these items when I reserved my move day. They went to Uhaul to buy the blankets and rent a truck that morning. The workers were nice young men. However, you definitely could tell that they were normally the "laborers", because none of them knew how to lead the move. It took them 11 1/2 hours to move a 2,000 square foot ranch house of furniture (all boxes and personal items had already been removed). The items were being moved to a storage unit down the street and to a rental house across town. The storage unit is a disaster. Furniture is broken and items have been just thrown into the unit. At one point during the day, they lost the keys to the lock on the back of the truck and someone had to come to the house with the extra set. Their office is 10 minutes away, but it took over an hour. The workers also had to make two trips to the storage unit because their packing skills were awful. They had to go back to their office for straps before the 2nd trip because they didn't bring any with them the first time. I have called the local office daily for three weeks, and I was assured by them that they would re-organize the storage unit. However, today I was told that they will not be doing anything to rectify the situation. They said it was my fault that I didn't have the movers reorganize the storage unit at 10:30 at night when they finished the move. They also were not taking responsibility for any of the scratched and damaged furniture. I now have to call the Dallas, TX, corporate claims department to make a claim. The local Knoxville, TN office was not helpful at all. They were only "johnny on the spot" when they were trying to get my business.
