Profoundly and utterly disappointing experience. I solicited quotes and interviewed several movers for this job. We had a very specific time and date for the move as we were in an elevator building with strict loading dock hours/days. I made this clear to everyone from the beginning and was assured they could meet our needs by the owner, Mike. When we spoke, he was very attentive and reassuring and said the business was family run and they would not disappoint. We arranged for a morning pick-up and at 9:45 made our first call to ask about the crew. I was told by dispatcher that we were scheduled for an afternoon pick-up and that crew would be there by 12:15. At 12:15 we called to find out that they were running late, at 1:00 they were coming soon, etc. etc. They finally arrived at 3PM with an exhausted 3-man crew who indicated they would not have time to get our stuff out before the dock closed. This even after we confirmed and called several times before the day and on the day itself. They say they are sorry, but we are out $350 in moving and babysitting fees, in violation of our rental agreement, frustrated at having taken the day off work to move as well as two days before to have everything packed and ready. Apparently there was a schedule conflict, but if that were so, why didn't they come clean about it in the morning so we could have tried to find a different mover and avoid being unable to move all together. Again, we made the decision to use them based on the word and assurances of the owner, Mike. He seemed like a good guy who could understand our situation and said they could come through for us. I was concerned about things getting broken and the like, but never dreamed they would not show up with enough time to move us when I reiterated in every conversation that we could only move between 8:00 and 4. I cannot say enough how poorly this turned out and how much I urge everyone not to trust All My Sons in Chicago. They were not the cheapest bid I got, but I thought they seemed worth it because of the owner's promise that everything would run smoothly. When it didn't, he was nowhere to be found. Moving is stressful enough already without this happening - it could be an isolated incident, but their lack of truthful information about what was happening throughout the day and Mike's lack of responsiveness throughout the day leads me to believe it is not a well-run operation. I am sorry we had to learn this the hard way and encourage others to stay away from All My Sons if you have any time constraints or restrictions on your moving.
