DO NOT USE FOR INTERSTATE MOVE, SCAM

Submitted this review about All-State-Relocation

I am writing this review to warn potential customers of this company’s customer service, the worst movers I’ve ever had. When you submit for bids for your move, beware when you get a call from All State Relocation. They are very prompt and offers good customer service when providing the quote for your move and make it very easy for you to plan your move. However, the problem starts after you put your deposit for your move. First of all they ask you when do you want your delivery date and what is your move-in date. Be careful what dates you provide on this. Legally, they can deliver your stuff 30 days from the ‘First Available Delivery Date’ you provided, AND you can bet that they would deliver your stuff closer to that limit, if you are moving interstate. They provide 30 day storage in California, and I now understand why is this the case, because they pick up your things on the day you agreed upon, and then they bring them to their storage and wait for a truck to come back to California to pick up your stuff from the storage, and this could take up to 30 days before they deliver your things to your new home since they most probably would have additional stops in other states on the way to your destination address in another state. So be very careful on the date you specified for the ‘First Available Delivery Date’, you might as well put 1 day after the pick up date. In their estimate form, ‘Move Date’ is the date when they pick up your things from the origination address. ‘First Available Delivery Date’ is the date they start counting 30 days (legal agreement is to deliver within 30 days from this date). So if you want your stuff picked up on August 1st, then I suggest you put August 2nd, then most likely you would get your stuff on the last week of August. When I was planning my move with their customer service, I specifically indicated that it is very important that my son’s things will be delivered in no more than two weeks since my son starts school and will need a lot of stuff by then. So their customer service asked me to agree on an earlier pick up, which is two weeks earlier than what I had planned, since he told me that move from California to Chicago will only take a week. What he forgot to tell me is that your stuff don’t necessarily get into the next truck because they have other things from other customers that are already in their storage waiting to be moved. My pick up date is on a Monday, so on Friday before that Monday, I got a call from their customer service to confirm the time and date of pick-up. I was given 12noon to 2 pm as pick-up time. The movers did not get to our address until 4pm. The ‘leader’ would ask you to go over all the paperwork and make you sign all these papers without even giving you the chance to read. Here you are, too anxious to get the move done, and they came late so youa re stuck with the ‘rush’ paperwork just so the movers can start packing and loading. Beware again that anything they pack (even though you already pack it) to make sure that it is packed properly, you pay for the time and packing materials. The movers were good in packing and loading into their truck. However, I noticed that they just wrapped with blankets and papers with tapes the legs of my Queen Anne desk (take note of this part) and was told it should be ok, I don’t have to worry. My last move, the movers disassemble the legs, so I was surprised but didn’t argue. When everything have been loaded into their truck, here comes the ‘FINAL’ bill. SURPRISE!!! My bill is $600 more than the quote given to me and they told me because of total cubic feet used. Beware again here, if possible YOU will have to watch the movers how they load your things into the truck, I don’t think they load them to save space but to charge you more space. Anyway, what can I do, I am just a small single mom and couldn’t argue much. So they asked me to pay 70% at pick up and 30% at the delivery, cash or US Postal money order only. I asked their leader, when can I expect them in Chicago, he told me that our stuff will be transferred to a 18-wheeler and shipped to Chicago, should get there in no time. The week of expected delivery date, I have not heard anything from their dispatcher. So I called their customer service and asked for the same person who gave me the quote to complain. I was told that he is not in, and so I talked to another person and was told that our things are still in the storage in California and not due to be transferred to their truck until the following week or two weeks later, depending on the truck being dispatched (i.e. three weeks to 4 weeks from the pick up date). So, that means that agreeing to an earlier date for pick up DID NOT really make a ny difference on our delivery date since they have always had it planned to store your things for a while while waiting for a truck to be dispatched for your State of delivery. I asked that they better plan on moving our stuff out of the storage into their next truck since my son will be starting school soon and he needs a lot of his things packed in their storage. I asked to talk to a manager, and I was told she is not in, so she will call me when she gets in, didn’t hear from her until almost 5pm and she didn’t know what was going on so she will have to call me back before 5pm, did not hear from her on that day.. I called the next day and asked for the person who gave me the quote and had an agreement that I need the delivery date to be closer to our ‘First Available Delivery Date’. That person is still out I was told and will not be back until next week. Finally I heard from the Manager of the Customer Service, and after a long conversation, she finally admitted that the person who gave me the quote is no longer with their company. Apparently he was let go on the same week I agreed to go with their moving company. Anyway, the Manager promised me that she will contact their dispatcher to have our things in the next truck to Chicago, but unfortunately, that’s not until Wednesday the following week, which is over three weeks from the pick up date and 5 days from the ‘First Available Delivery Date’. Finally I got an email saying that our things are in transit and that was Tuesday, not Wednesday. So I called the Customer Service, and I couldn’t get hold of anyone, it kept putting me on hold automatically and got cut off many times. Finally, I got hold of someone and was told that delivery date is 5-7 days later and that the dispatcher would call me three days before the delivery to provide me the exact date and time. This is NOT TRUE. No one called, and it was already Monday, and supposedly delivery is on Tuesday. I called the customer service again, and was provided with a phone number belonging to the truck driver. Talked to the truck driver, couldn’t talk so he gave me the phone number of the dispatcher. All this round-a-bout tells me that the company in California has no idea or no relations, company-wise, to the truck driver and/or dispatcher. The dispatcher was very rude and kept telling me to call back, instead of him offering to call me back with an update. Finally, he told me that the truck will be there between 9am and noon on Tuesday!!! And guess what, Tuesday morning and it was past 9am, no word form the dispatcher to confirm, and so I called again. I was told by the dispatcher, there’s a problem. The 18-wheeler cannot get into the City of Chicago because it needs a permit. DUH, don’t they know that ahead of time when they gave me a quote? The dispatcher stubbornly said they don’t take care of permits. I called the City of Chicago transportation and asked and was told that it is only $50 to get a permit and that is only for parking in the curb. The address they are delivering to has wide streets and shouldn’t be a problem. The bottom line is that MORE MONEY. They asked me to agree to pay $425 for the shuttle to move my stuff from their 18-wheeler to a smaller truck. Amazing, greedy scumbugs!!! My son is only a student and no job, where would he get $425 cash in an hour? What choice do we have? Every hour counts and any delay you get charge more. So upon agreeing to pay $425 more, we were told that it should be delivered in an hour. That was 11am, and delivery truck arrived at 5pm. The driver wouldn’t unload unless I signed the delivery paper work saying they have delivered in good conditions. And you have to pay first before they unload. At the end of the delivery, they unloaded my desk and left it in the corner of my son’s apartment saying they will be back to get the tool to assemble the legs. So I was surprised to hear that because I know they never disassemble them in the first place, and so I thought oh maybe they did in the storage. And guess what, when I unpack the desk, SURPRISE!!! The legs are broken and one of the broken legs is missing. I chased them down and of course the movers have left!!! I was so pissed, crying and ready to shoot someone at the same time. Lessons learned here, make sure that you always have someone accompanying and following the movers no matter what until the end of the delivery and until everything is unpacked. I called the customer service and unsurprisingly, I was told I have to file a claim and that’s why they have insurance, which is only 60 cents per lb per article (beware of that paper that you signed quickly). Quoted for $986, charged $1100 on pick up and $825 on delivery!!! BAD BUSINESS, ALWAYS LATE, LIARS, GREEDY, UNRELIABLE, DISHONEST, NOT TRUSTWORTHY, SCAM!!!
