Here is an overview of my experience with Allegiant Van Lines. Bottom Line: DO NOT HIRE THEM! Estimate Process: Initial quote from Sebastian was a total of $1200 (2,000lbs). I told him the details about my apartment and my move, and he gave me the quote based on the estimated weight of my items. He continually assured me that the estimatie was very generous, and there should be no reason my items would exceed that amount. Day of Pickup: Movers were 3 hours late arriving to my home. They stepped on my blinds, breaking them, and I was charged for them by my apartment complex. Before the movers left, they told me they believed my initial estimate was way off, and my actual items were about 3,000lbs, but that they would call me the next day with the actual weight. I eventually got a call, saying that my items weighed 2,900 (almost 30% more than the initial estimate!!). I called and asked 3 times for the official weight receipts to be sent to me, and got no response. Delivery Process: Delivery happened a full week later than promised, on Easter Sunday morning. Again, the movers were 3 hours late. As soon as they arrived, they broke a light fixture while moving my mattress in, and I noticed that several wooden tables I had were severely damaged (huge chunks of wood missing from the top). When I asked for the official weight receipts (since I did not believe the weight of 2900 lbs could be correct), they looked completely fake. There were date stamps but no time stamps…I do not believe they reflected the actual weight of my items. In fact, on one weight receipt, the company name was spelled wrong, and the truck number was simply “1”. Even though I did not agree with the final total that was presented to me, I was forced to pay the full amount in cash since the mover could not get ahold of his manager, and the only way to get my stuff was to pay him up front. I did some research and found that by law you only are responsible for paying 110% of the initial quote in order to get your things, but the Mover did not understand English and would not give me my things until I paid him the full amount. I have tried calling the company several times to follow up on my unsatisfactory experience, with no response. My next plan is to contact every agency I can, including the FTC and the local authorities in WA State. This company needs to be held responsible for their fraudulent behavior.
