We have done a number of long distance moves, and I can say that this has been the most horrible experience ever, thanks to Americarrier. Sam Blanc did not come to my house to assess the accurate volume, assuring us that he could assess things over the phone. Needless to say, he came back with a very attractive quote, which we foolishly accepted. On the day of the move, it turns out that we had much more stuff than estimated, and we had to pay a higher rate on the excess. The attitude of the movers were threatening while at the same time taking no responsibility for doing a good job. Furniture was wrapped poorly, resulting in lots of damage. Boxes were piled on other boxes clearly marked fragile. But our nightmare had just begun. When I tried to phone Sam Blanc a few days later to complain about the excess and to ascertain when our goods would be arriving, Sam had mysteriously gone on a long vacation, and there was no one else in the organization that could tell me anything. For a full 1 1/2 weeks, no one could tell me when our stuff would be delivered, or indeed whether it had even left Washington yet. Finally, I had a phone call from Philip, telling me that our stuff had indeed not yet left Washington because we still owed a significant amount on the deposit, which was now based on the inflated quote. They would not do anything with our stuff until we paid additional money directly into their bank account that same day. Still, no one was willing to consider that we were being overcharged. Finally, our goods arrived 17 days later. Most of the boxes had huge gouges in them or were partially crushed. A few items that were not even ours were brought in from the truck. The movers went to work putting our furniture together, most of which was scratched, damaged or stained. The last two items to be put together were our sofa and dining table. Unfortunately, the movers realized that the legs of the sofa were missing, as well as the nuts for the dining table. The mover threw his hands in the air and claimed that it was not his problem, leaving us with a legless sofa and legless dining table. Not surprisingly, his supervisor could not contact anyone at Americarrier to discuss. I made numerous phone calls begging someone to phone me back, but no one ever phoned. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are fraudulent, difficult, sloppy and irresponsible.
