I and my husband were supposed to move on Aug. 14, but it's now September 5th and they don't even know when the pick-up will happen/ they say they still have 30 days to complete from the pick up date. It means that we will have to live without our belongings for another 1-2 months, on top of already passed 3 weeks. They took half of the moving cost, about $1840, as "depost" and are not willing to give it back to us. Our life has been totally crazy as we don't have anything but some clothes and basic materials we had to buy. (which cost about $500) Here is the detail - please read and spread it out so that nobody else hires this company. We hired American Moving Services for our moving from Montgomery to Fargo. Packing supplies and paking-labor were included in the moving cost. 1) Their "window date" for pick up was August 14-15. Call on the 14th saying that it would arrive on the 15th 1pm. 2) Aug. 15 - nothing happens so I start calling them, they know nothing. I had to keep calling until their closing hour, and they finally told me that the truck broke down and driver is looking for the truck. 3) Aug. 16-17, still no news about the truck. We had a deadline for evacuating our apartment so we asked if we had to pack ourselves. They said "That would be a good idea." 4) We had to spend two days/nights packing our stuff. Shipping supplies cost $350-400. Then we had to find a storage and hire a local mover, which was about $400 cost. We don't know the storage cost yet. Our grand piano is still staying at our apartment, thanks to the understanding new tenant. 5) Around Aug. 18, they told us that they found a truck for a pick up on Sep. 3. 6) Aug. 22- Our friend, who's a lawyer, suggested to us that we ask for our deposit back. They refused. Our friend called the company and tried to reason them. 7) The very next day they called us and told us that a truck was found, miraculously, and would pick everything up on August 24. 8) Aug. 24 -No news for the whole day, and they called us to inform that the truck driver did not know that we had a grand piano, and they didn't know when the driver will have the "equipments" to pick up a piano. 9) August 31 - we are back to the September 3rd date. It's a labor day so we asked many times if they were going to really work on a holiday. They said yes and we would get a call on Sep. 3rd. 10) Sep. 3 - nothing happens. 11) Sep. 4 - We hear from the tenants at our old apartment that the latest truck broke. Again!! And we did not hear from the AMS about it. 12) Sep. 5 - We tried to reason them into giving us the deposit back. They refused. We asked what happens if the "30 days" pass by. (Company policy states "carrier must complete the delivery in 30 days"/ also mentions about the 1-2 days window-date) Then they told us that it's 30 days FROM the PICKUP. And THEY DON"T KNOW WHEN THE PICK UP WILL HAPPEN. So it means we may not get our stuff delivered until November! Can you believe this company? I have NEVER ever experience anything like this in my entire life. I am thinking about suing the company. They are acting like a big mafia or a theif without a gun. We will have to just lose our $1840 and hire another person because we cannot live without our books (we both teach music), scores and CDs, and everything else that's needed for a normal life. Please try to spread out this and make sure that no other victims occur. Sungs.
