Liars who like to keep making the cost go up

Upon our initial interview VIA phone, we were told this would be our best moving experience. It has become a nightmare. First, we were never given an exact date of pick up. This made us nervous, and should have been a red flag, but we had never used a moving company before. Second, the dates of expected delivery had a 8 day spread. Again, another red flag. When we asked about this, we were told not to worry, it would be the first expected date. We packed our belongings after we went over our inventory with Marion and paid a deposit on a quote we were told would be the max we would have to pay. 4 days before our first expected move date, we get a call from "quality assurance" just to go over our inventory a last time. This guy tells us that we would need to pack each of my husband's weights in boxes. Immediately I questioned where I would find boxes that wouldn't crumble when a mover picked it up with 85 lb dumbells enclosed. I was told that was up to me unless I wanted to pay more to have the movers pack them. Now I was beginning to catch onto the game... Tell the customer a quote then spring it on them when its too late to get out of the contract about the extra work and fees! I paid an additional deposit. Then, after researching the cost of getting more boxes (in the next 4 days, mind you), I realized not only would the movers get me to pay more but the boxes would put us in the poor house. I was also informed they would be picking up our inventory then another person's to be "cost effective'. Excuse me? Why am I paying over $6000 to have my stuff mingled in with other people's?? This was the reason they had an 8 day delivery window. Had I known these 2 significant facts on day 1 I would have never chosen them. Obviously they lie up front knowing no one in their right mind would agree to such nonsense. I cancelled the move with them. The cancellation policy is 5 days prior to move. Since they never gave me an exact move date, I was still more than 5 days out from a portion of their expected move date. Of course, they go off the 1st move date, completely disregarding the fact that this is the week of the move & they still haven't nailed down a date. when I asked for a refund, the "manager" got very rude & was totally unwilling to even negotiate or listen to my complaints. She kept arguing it was 4 days from our 1st move date estimate. I explained I felt that's unfair since an exact date had yet to be given. She was totally unprofessional or reasonable. Will never ever use a moving service again. Please learn from our loss.
