This move was a pure nightmare. My wife negotiated a contract with them over the phone and they would email us a more expensive version compared to the verbal agreement. We would call them back and again a higher quote would come by email. After several iterations of this we got our contract. The driver showed up and had no help. I had to drive him to pick up workers for him and drive them to get cigarettes and Red Bulls. I was supposed to be reimbursed for gas and never was. No care was taken when loading the truck to place boxes labeled fragile on top. Driver had us sign a contract saying that 15% tip is expected for the move. This cost us an additional $350. Move date was agreed upon and Howard and the driver assured us that our things would get there on time. After all, they wanted to be done with the move as quickly as we did, they said. They said if the truck literally broke down, that might add a couple days. My wife and I drove across the country taking a full week and a half to visit family and sight see. A couple days before arriving at our destination we called to coordinate our delivery which was supposed to be within a day or two after our arrival. At this point they could not even give us an estimate of the truck's weight because it had not left California yet. Howard was absolutely useless at speeding things along because American's Moving Services has no control over the moving companies that they hire out. Instead, Howard would assure us that our belongings would arrive tomorrow. When we call the following day, we were again told our things would come tomorrow. We did this for over a week living on our floor and eating with no utensils and cookware. The city insisted the large moving truck could fit in our street no problem but instead we got hit with an additional $350 shuttle fee from the movers despite our pleading. During our move a lamp of ours was broken, several pieces of furniture were scratched, and our bedframe was destroyed. It has been 3 months since our pick up date and we are still missing a large oil canvas painting. Again, we were continuously told that the painting would arrive shortly. We never received this painting. This move was as stressful as it could have possibly been. America's Moving Services is a truly terrible company to do business with. Spare yourself the head ache.
