This company showed up on the second of the two day window to pack and move our 4 story house. While we continually told them there would not be enough time, they promised it would get done. I later learned that the company (A Better Way) that actually moved us had never been told by AMS that we had stairs in our house; event hough, we paid extra for the stairs. Stairs were an important part of the move. By the way, the president of AMS with whom I spoke was very condescending and rude as I explained to him how nervous I was that they could actually do this in one day. The movers showed up at 9:30a, the driver had to take a nap in the truck because he was "not feeling well" (he has also called me at about 1:30a that morning and hung up once I answered- assumably out with the other movers). He continued to take breaks and complain the remainder of the day. A cascade of events then happened leading to the main mover packing all of the sheets so we had no record of what they had done (an indication of the utter chaos of the day). That was followed by their telling us at 10:00p that we needed to start deciding we really wanted to take because not everything was going to fit in the truck. This is after we had been assured there would be extra room. My husband and I moved more that night than some of the movers and my husband and his father had to make about 4 trips that night and next morning to take the remainder of the stuff to his parents house (where they later came back to pick up once they dropped off in VT). WE had to be out in order to close on our house (which I told them repeatedly). In the middle of the day, one of the men they brought in to help (the only reason anything got packed) told me it was the worst he had ever seen (and he had been in the business for many years). Nearly all the movers were apologizing for what a horrible experience it was. Once the boxes arrived, many of them were smashed on the top- clearly not packed well and most of them labelled "fragile". Many of the boxes looked as though the contents were thrown into them. Over twenty items arrived without tags (which my husband asked the driver to make sure they were marked). Some items were damaged and other missing. It was THE WORST move experience we have had and we have had quite a few. I would never ever recommend this company. As I told the customer service rep that I spoke with, their business is about service and in that they failed. The people that showed up that day were horrible and the manner in which things were packed and managed was horrendous. There was no attempt to compensate us for the service that we received that day. We have been charged for types of boxes that were not used. Thankfully, my husband and I are fit individuals and could do as much as we did during the move. I know Eric will respond to this post and spin his own story. I have been listening to that for a couple of months, but there is no arguing that what we experienced could have been avoided. Any of of our friends and family who witnessed it would tell you the same. Plus, I have pictures to show you the quality of the work. By the way, my husband just read this and told me that I was being overly nice..
