I used Apartment movers to move me on March 26th 2010. The two man crew were nice however when I placed the order I told them I was moving to a two story and had two Armoires and a large lingerie chest to go upstairs. They sent only two guys who upon arriving at my move destination said they could not get the large units upstairs. I called Apartment movers and informed them we had a man power issue and that the guys could not get the large pieces up there. I was told I would get a call back after they discussed. After over an hour and one of my armoire getting a crack in the back of it from the movers trying to get it upstairs I called back. They told me they thought the issue was resolved. Their resolution was telling the mover to get the furniture up there even though I had told the rep they could not do it. After I told them my armoire had been cracked they put me on with the manger who was probably the rudest person I have ever encountered. I told the manager that I had called earlier about the man power issue and that no one called me back and now one of my pieces were cracked because the guys tried to do it by themselves. As soon as I mentioned damaged the manager became very rude. He asked me if I had measured to see if the furniture would fit upstairs. I explained to him this was a duplex and we owned the one next door the plans were identical and I had the same size furnishings in the and some bigger in the other unit. Then he sarcastically told me well I will just come out there myself and measure. I told him that was fine but we needed more crew to which he sarcastically spoke over me snidely saying thank you very much and hung up on me. Long story short I called back and talk to a rep and again explained there was still a manpower issue - the furniture would fit but two men were not enough. Ted talked to the manager and they agreed to send two more guys out to move the two pieces but then charged my card an additional $100.00 even knowing their guys had already broken my armoire yet they still charged my card. The manager was rude when politely confronted with a problem and hung up on me, did not even care about the armoire they broke in spite of the fact I had asked them not to move it because we needed more manpower. Somehow to the manager it was all my fault that he sent two movers that could barely lift my dresser - a dresser mind you that I have moved by myself. Apartment movers are probably okay unless you have a problem. Once you have a problem you are on your own and will be treated like their worst enemy. I was never rude but was treated with great hostility and no one wanted to discuss the broken back to my armoire. They made it my fault they did not have the manpower rather than dealing with the issue in a professional manner. Now I have a $1100.00 armoire with a huge crack in the wood down the back that will no longer shut properly. I now will have to purchase a new one and I have to deal with a $100.00 discrepancy for the extra money they want to charge me after I told them we needed more people. They bid the job for an upstairs move of armoires,, when the movers they sent could not do it they wanted to charge me more. They sent out two large guys and those guys carried the pieces up like it was a piece of cake - yet I am supposed to pay extra for able bodied movers and eat the loss of my armoire. I see now there are many reviews like this out there on Apartment Movers. I certainly wish I would have looked here before I made arrangements with them. Live and learn.
