My experience with Apartment Movers

I have moved four times in the past five years and utilized moving companies most of the time. My last move was just a local move, so I decided to use Apartment Movers. The sales person that I spoke with was very nice and sold me on their gentle treatment of our items despite the low cost. She had explained that the movers would wrap everything to avoid damage and how they had a technique to move clothes from the old closet to the new closet that would prevent wrinkles. When the movers actually performed the move, this was not the case. The movers did not wrap everything and ended up causing a big rip in the top of our sectional and stains on our tempurpedic mattress. One of the movers apparently stepped in something and left a stain mark on the brand new carpet at out new house also. Oh, and the special technique to move the clothing on hangers was to lay it on the floor and roll it up in a moving blanket. When they hung the clothes back up, they were definitely not wrinkled. I pointed out the tear in the couch and stains on the floor and mattress to the movers on the day of the move and they gave me a number to call to report it. The movers said that someone would be out within a week to look at the damage. Over the next two months I left many messages and spoke with the person a couple times with no results. I finally contact someone at their headquarters in Texas and complained about the response. That person told me there was no claim in their system and he would need to start one. After the report was filed, the same person who had been dodging me for months called and came out to our house to see the damages. He said they would not cover anything to do with the bed or the floor because that was an act of God. They would cover the coach based on the mandated insurance rate, but not for the whole sectional, only based on the weight of the damaged section. After all of the hassle, they ended up writing me a check for $90 for the ruined sectional and would not pay anything for the floor or bed. The guy who came said that all of their people are outsourced workers and admitted the sales people tell you just about anything to get you booked. If you hire a moving company, I would recommend that you STAY AWAY FROM THE APARTMENT MOVERS. This was the worst moving experience I have ever had.
