First off: any of the reviews that have anything more than "0" stars are clearly fake. When my girlfriend and I were searching for a company, we talked with Beacon. We spoke with Joe - a real smooth talker and really pleasant to work with. For about 20 minutes. After he had our initial down payment, we couldn't get this joker on the phone again. When the pick up day arrives (23 June) they were, I kid you not, 5 hours late. I can deal with that. Traffic happens. However, the misery began shortly there after. We were told that her goods would arrive on 19 July. Well, 4 days later the movers show up. Apparently they were waiting at my apartment since 8 am, but I didn't get a call till 1 pm. Then the movers charged me more than the binding price. These people are a scam. The company wasn't Beacon, but some sub-contractor. They were lazy, rude and didn't have any answers. So, they leave. They said they'd be back at 4 pm. At 6 pm I called them and asked where they were. I was informed that they were 90 minutes south in Sarasota, Fl. Some how they got THAT lost. After many calls, they finally called me back (at 9 pm) saying they'd be there before 11 pm. Eleven at night? Really? Well, surprise! They didn't show. However, 17 530 am on Friday they there are - pounding on my door. I gave them the cash (super shady) and they went on their merry way. I couldn't believe it. ALL of the boxes were broken. All of them. Luckily, none of the goods were damaged. That's because my girlfriend packed her items herself. Amazingly, the TV wasn't broken. As we began to go through her things, we noticed that one of the boxes isn't hers! I called about it, and guess what? No response. And we're missing one of her boxes that has important things. I cannot begin to tell you how bad these people are. They seem nice and friendly, but that's just to get your money. Stay away. Here's some proof of their ethics: http://www.yelp.com/biz/beacon-moving-and-storage-brooklyn-2 http://www.mymovingreviews.com/movers/beacon-moving-and-storage-2231 http://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/business-reviews/moving-and-storage-company/beacon-moving-storage-in-brooklyn-ny-138154/ Do your research. Don't use them. Let my (and others) experiences deter you from throwing your hard earned money away. The only reason why I am posting is because I think all of those "5 Start" reviews are false.
