I expect the company to make a comment to my review or to post their own version (they were not happy wiht a review i posted in Yelp [the manager dared to call my office to aggresively ask why i had placed that review, i simply ignored her and hung up)], but i don't care, what i care is that I tell as many as people as i can the dreadful experience I had with this company, and if you were wondering, yes i am dealing with this issue through the BBB too. Bottomline: Hire a more respectable company and don't trust them with your stuff. Here is the story: after telling my friends back in DC and VA of the multiple reasons why they should NOT use this company they encouraged me to write my review in different forums to perhaps assist other costumers on their decision. Pick up: I was initially told that they would be picking my stuff up between 12:00 and 5:00pm but they did not showed up until 7:00 p.m and finished after 11:00 p.m (the rule in my former apt was no Moving after 9:00 p.m), they never called me to inform me that they were running late and when i called at 4:30, 5:00 p.m i was told they would be there at 6:00, then 6:30....you get the idea. The crew was nice and relatively fast but they did not have a tool-box in hand to take my bed apart. They asked me if i had a tool-box they could borrow (i did but it was packed already so they had to go back to the truck and unpack several boxes). With my tools and my help we took the bed apart - when i informed the manager of this situation days later i was told that the crew did not carry "specialized" tool boxes; the bed was bought in IKEA and no, it did not need a special tool, my tool-box was the most basic tool-box you could find (paid $15.00 for it on Sears) and the team used a couple of wrenches that are available on any tool box. Delivery: the company Called to CONFIRM 24hrs in advance that delivery was going to be between 13:00 and 3:00 pm but once again they did not show up until almost 7:00 pm; the driver did not want to back up the trailer into the loading dock on my apartment but he wanted me to pay the distance (in feet) from the platform on the dock to where the trailer was parked! At the end he agreed to give me a "discount" and not charge me for those extra feet. Condition of the items: I had packed the fragile stuff myself but i asked them to pack other things including my Harman Kardon speakers and my large lamps. I was surprised that they did not take the lamps apart (it was almost 11 pm by this time so i guess they, understandably, wanted to go home) and when i asked them if the lamps were going to be OK they said yes. Both lamps arrived with dings and deep scratches and one of them is in so bad-shape that i can't keep it standing. The speakers stands are also damaged beyond repair. Also my 2 CD racks were only wrapped partially and got here with dents and deep scratches. I am still waiting to hear about my claim and i'd be happy to forward anyone the pictures i sent the company along with it. Customer service: To be fair Jera tried to help when i talked to her but the series of excuses to my different complains (being late on pick up and delivery, damage to my items, over-charging me, etc) were simply not acceptable. I was told in multiple times that it was the nature of the business. Moreover, i had asked specifically if they sub-contracted someone to deliver the items and i was told that no, that they would be delivering them. This was not true, as there was another company delivering my items and the driver was not affiliated with the company at all (his words: i don't know anything about your agreement with the company, i just get hired to drop your stuff). Cost:: I was quoted an initial amount for 2 apartments ($2028), one of the moves had to be cancelled so i only ended up moving 1 bedroom apartment and altohough i understand that it is hard for them to guess w/o seeing the number of boxes and the furniture, the apt is only 720 Square feet with only few furniture items. The final bill was over the amount quoted for 2 apartments ($2337.10)and when i asked why the miscalculation the answer was that the items were bigger than expected (they did not take the lamps apart, the large TV console apart, etc). Bottomline: I would strongly recommend you to look at another company before hiring this one, particularly if you are going to move out of state. It is a shame that this industry is not regulated at all as in it seems standard for moving companies to act as if they were doing you a favor moving your stuff eventhough they charge whatever they want.
