In July, I contacted this moving company since I wanted to move my home from College Park, MD to Madison WI. Originally they sent me quote and we agreed the price $1300. This is based on the 34 items. They said they guarantee anything. In their moving estimate forms, it says "2380 lbs. (340 cf.) $0.60 per lbs". I added additional 6 items (2 lamps, a small shoe cabinet, wood board, a small child car, and a clothes hang). I think I only need add a little more money since they did not weight much. On that day, I paid them by my credit card $390. They came to pick up at deep night (12:00 pm, very late). They requested me to sign the form before they finished the picking. After all were picked, they required me to pay the $2350 totally. I told him that the price $1300 was already discussed with their boss. If they want to ask a huge higher price, I could not let they pick up my furniture. The workers said that time were very late (when they finish picking up, it was almost 1:30 am), “if you do not want them to move the furniture, you need discuss with our boss or we will send them back tomorrow”. That night I paid $910. They told me that they guarantee anything, but I wrote email back to that workers (to their company) at least 10 times and told them “this is very urgent”, they would not write back any more. The next day, I called the moving company, but they insisted that price and said if I wouldn’t want them move, they could send my furniture back but would charge their labor fee at $90/hour for all what they did. Since we could not reach agreement, before I left College Park, MD, I specially drove to their moving company. I discussed the price with the boss (name: Israel) in their storage room. He said, since we added several items, he now asked for $1550, other wise he still only ask for $1300 if no items are added. I asked whether $1500 was fine. He answered yes. I confirmed this with him three times. Both of us reached this agreement. Then he came back to his office, gave the contract to his worker (Sam) and let him change the price. This guy (Sam) agreed to change later. I also confirmed this with this guy again. Since all three confirmed the price, I left. However, when the furniture arrived on Saturday (Aug. 18), the moving workers showed me the contract: They just gave a discount $150 from the total $2350. They finally required me to pay $2200 totally for this move, otherwise, they will move my furniture back to Maryland. I called the boss “Israel” and left message to ask them to change the price many many times that time. He refused to accept the call, also did not call back. On the coming Monday morning, I called “Israel” again, he told me he would call me back shortly. However, he did not. Thus I called him again in the afternoon at 5:00 pm. He told me he would call back next day. He still told a lie. On Wednesday, I called him again. This time I want to finalize this issue. He suddenly deny that he ever said that the price $1500. Besides, the moving company lost 4 metal legs of my table. This table is new and cost me about $250. Now I can not use it anymore. They also broke a wood board of mine (it is $60). However, they only agreed to refund $36. A cabinet, a refrigerator, a chair were scratched. Now all the photos are attached. I talked with them this is unacceptable, since that they would not write back any more. “Cross State Moving & Storage Company” information is as follows.
