Please take our advice and do not use E-Z Movers. E-Z Movers had the lowest quote we received on our move from MN to NC. However, when they arrived the low quote was completely negated when we were charged SIGNIFICANTLY MORE for "long carry" charges. These “long carry charges” were the fault of the driver because he did not pull up close enough to the building when a car that was parked near our front door pulled away 30 minutes into the move. These charges were significant and the total overall cost of the move was nearly double our original quote as a result. The head mover we worked with was a jerk and very unpleasant to work with. He told us he was originally from Bulgaria and inadvertently shared that he makes $200,000 a year, which explains the extra fees that we assume go directly to him. The movers spent four hours loading our items and the truck was left running the entire time XXXa fuel cost that I'm sure was passed on to us as the customers. When we signed the contract we were told it would take 7-14 days for our items to arrive in NC, however once in our new location we were told it was 7-14 BUSINESS DAYS. Also, we were told we would get 24 hours advance notice when our shipment was to arrive, but we only received a few hours notice. It was never explained that the remaining balance would need to be paid IN CASH. There was damage to a significant number of items, which E-Z Movers refused to pay for because without our knowledge the mover had identified nearly all our furniture items as "SC" when loading, a designation we did not notice when signing the papers. The "SC" stood for "scratched," indicating that these items were damaged prior to moving. However we had recently purchased most of our furniture items and many were brand new. They have never mentioned to us what the SC stands for and just gave us the papers and said: “ok, sign here”. You could argue that we agreed and signed without reading the fine print, but who would read them in such hectic moments. The mover identified our items as "scratched" in order to protect the company should our items get damaged, which they did. We had rips in our new leather couch, scratches on a new dining room chair, and a scratch on a new leather bench. They were completely dishonest and unethical and they know that that’s how they make their money. We called an arbitration company to discuss filing a complaint, and when we mentioned the name “E-Z Movers” the person on the other line let out an audible sigh, as indication that we were not the first people to taken by this company. According to our research, E-Z Movers has changed their name at least once in their history, and we will be watching to see if they do so again. We should have listened to other reviewers who had complaints, but we took a risk and have been paying for it ever since.
