Use them if you want, but here is my experience with east movers (eastmoving.com). East moving company states in their agreement: “We are a REAL moving company! We use our trucks and we make sure that our customer's moves go easy and smooth and of course we get you delivered quickly! WE GIVE YOU A FLAT RATE based on your item list.” This should have been my 1st warning – if they have to say they are a real moving company, they are probably not. Arranged the long-distance move with Debbie at east movers (debbie@eastmoving.com 561-935-9495 or 866-630-8440). She was very nice and responsive – I often received emails well outside of normal business hours from her. This was until she collected a $615 deposit via my credit card. After the deposit was made, she moved onto the next victim. Beware. The day before the scheduled pick-up I received a call from Ronnie, who identified herself as being from ‘the moving company’ to tell me the pick-up had been rescheduled from Monday to Tuesday. Tuesday I received another call from Ronnie saying they needed to reschedule until Wednesday. Wednesday I received a call several hours after the appointed time from the actual driver, who in broken English wanted to know the pick-up address. Alarm bells were going off loud and clear by now. When the driver finally did arrive in an ancient, plain, unmarked truck he had paperwork from United Moving Services. He tried raising the price from $2460 to $3700 saying there was additional items not on the inventory (there weren’t) and additional packing supplies were needed (everything was in boxes). I refused and asked to speak with his supervisor. Next, I received a call from Katie at proud American movers (Katie@proudamericanmovers.com 305-222-7713) with a lower price, but still more than $800 over the original estimate. She said they would not load the truck until I agreed to pay this. I refused. They next day, I received a call from James Hattfield (305-222-7713) who said he was from east movers. At this point, it could have been anyone. Hew wanted to know why I refused the new price (duh!). He refused to refund my deposit, saying all deposits are non-refundable. Thursday I initiated a fraud dispute against them with my bank. The bank said this type of fraud is common and assured me they would get the deposit back. Friday the money was back in my account. I have also filed formal complaints against east movers (or east moving, whatever they are calling themselves at the moment) with the better business bureau and the department of transportation. Arrangement were been made with Bekins moving to my total satisfaction. Avoid east moving company at all costs.
