I was very happy when I found Finest Movers. All the reviews were fantastic and I felt my belongings would be in good hands. I asked tons of questions and overestimated the number of items I would be moving in hopes that I wouldn't be taken by surprise on moving day. Things started off nicely when I was told my things would be picked up on my preferred date. Unfortunately, it took the movers 6 hours to clear out my one bedroom apartment.I was sad to find out that even with my overestimation of boxes and furniture, once everything was loaded, the total amount was going to be almost $500 more than quoted. It wasn't until I was trying to make the 1/2 payment that was due at pick up that I realized something was a little off. I made out the payment to "Finest Movers" and I was told - "Nevermind. You can just make the full payment when we deliver at the final destination." I was happy again to have the movers say they could deliver my belongings the following day at my destination in Maryland. I rushed to the destination to make sure I did not hold them up in any way or lose my spot for delivery. The movers did not arrive during the time frame given, so I followed up an hour after the latest they planned to arrive. They arrived shortly after my call, with an extra set of hands. The unloading went much faster, but almost nothing was put in place. Many of my items were not put back together and I later discovered that some had been put together incorrectly and I had to fix it. Example - my bed frame was not locked into place and it wobbled, and my dining table was put together so that the expandable feature would not work. The movers were polite, but they were also clearly inexperienced and not of the caliber I was expecting after seeing the fantastic reviews for Finest Movers When the driver told me they had to leave, I tried to make payment out to Finest Movers, and at that time was finally told that my job had been reassigned to another company. I had never been consulted by Finest Movers to receive approval to use this other company. I had flexible move dates, and if I had been given the option, I would have researched the new company (Big Boy Movers) before determining how to proceed. There is not as much information available about this company online, so I would have chosen to adjust my move date to allow Finest Movers to complete the move, because after going through a nightmare experience previously, I was determined to make sure this move went smoothly. Having been through a move before, I was careful and diligent in my search, and I am shocked that an issue like this would come up. I definitely would have questioned the large change from the quote more if I had realized someone other than the company I had researched (and believed was trustworthy) was completing the work. It's certainly not something I thought I would have to check for previously, but if I ever move again, I'll make sure the company I hire (AND PAY A DEPOSIT WITH TO SAVE THE DATE) is the company that will actually be moving me.
