This was an email that i sent to them: Prior to the start of June 2012 I booked a shipping appointment with your team to move items from Delaware Ohio to Boulder Colorado for July. Upon booking I placed a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the move (approximately $400). As the July approached, I specified a pick-up date of July 3rd with more than the required time to spare for obtaining a truck and pick-up time. On July 3rd I was told that the storms that had hit Ohio made it difficult for drivers to remain on schedule and that my items would be picked up within the next three days (July 4, 5, or 6). After the passing of those days, I was told that the truck had "broken down" and the driver was waiting for it to be fixed, which would extend my pick-up date a few more days (making the pick-up around July 9 or 10). July 10th I moved from Delaware to Boulder with the understanding that my items would arrive shortly thereafter and this inconvienence would be minimal. After the days passed, I was told that the driver and truck were unable to be contacted and that a new truck would be scheduled for me as soon as possible. After waiting numerous days for a new truck to call I was told that "if you could let us look a little further out in the week then we would be able to find a truck for you, it is hard to get a truck with one days notice". I had explained numerous times through the duration of my rescheduling moves that my items were in a storage locker and that once July 21st comes I will be charged $100 for the additional month (even if it not completely used). Thus, I told dispatch that my items had to be picked up prior to July 20th in order to not accrue additional storage fees. That date is today and my items remain in storage in Delaware Ohio, thus I am paying $100 extra for items that should have at least been moved out at this time. I understand that there are circumstances that prevent obtaining a service truck, however, I stress the importance of being forthcoming with information about the probability of obtaining such truck prior to booking. With that said I am requesting a refund of my original deposit (and less face it nothing was done so why should any money exchange hands) and an additional $100 for storage locker expenses accumulated while waiting for a vehicle to be secured and being told that one would in a timely manner. Recently, I have looked into other moving companies and was made aware that had I scheduled another mover by July 9th my items would be moved out prior to July 20th. This was not in the email: I was in Colorado with NOTHING. If you want your stuff to make it don't use this company. I am student and dont have money to burn through but I learned my lesson, you pay for what you get. Their price was too good to be be true and it was. I got a refund of my down payment but I lost money because of the basic things I had to buy when I got to Colorado. I finally went with GTrans shipping, they were great and fast. My biggest issue wa the fact that no one at First Call seemed to care. Once they had my money I was just shuffled around to different people or kept on hold until I just gave up. I rarely get angry, but when I'm taken for a ride it's not right.
