Seeking Legal Action

(I changed my number for this post. I emailed Judge Mathis this because he answers legal questions for his fans. I’m posting here for everyone to take notice of how shoddy this company operates. In case anyone is wondering, I’m currently looking to seek legal action for this situation.) Judge Mathis, I have a complicated question that I need to pose to you. I’ve been having problems dealing the moving company “First Call Movers” since last month. I purchased their services in May for them to perform the services of picking up my vehicle along picking up my household furnishings; I did this over the phone. Everything seemed like it went off without a hitch. However, since last month this company has been nothing but incompetent. First it was them underestimating how many inches my furnishings would take up within their truck. The estimator (Laura *954-606-9444*) was 1000 inches off with her estimate which ended up costing me about $700 more than was initially expected once the movers got there. (By the way, after the miscalculations by Laura I wasn’t able to contact her again.) Next, I found out that my car wouldn’t be getting picked up along with my furniture (they were both supposed to be picked up June 26th or 27th of this year). The reason I received is because 1st Call Movers placed my car pick-up for bid amongst movers to act upon and no one had acted upon it since May 17th (this is the first day I sought out 1st Call Movers); I found this out June 29th after I’d already left the spot where it was to be picked up (it was to be picked up in Hampton, VA and transported to Denver, CO). They told me that if the original date was missed that they have 3 days flex time to get the job done; 1st Call Movers missed their flex time too. After this I cancelled the pickup of my vehicle and followed their procedures for having my order cancelled. They were to refund my $200 deposit which I just found out (before typing this that they haven’t *I found out by checking my bank statements and I didn’t see my deposit credited back to my account*). I had my father travel to Hampton, VA and pick up my vehicle and drive it here (to Denver, CO). I contacted 1st Call Movers (954-606-9444) July 2nd to have my furniture scheduled for pick up. 1st Call Movers had me contact their 3rd party delivery people (201-209-9099) to personally set that up. I scheduled for July 5th to be the day for the delivery people to begin their journey to deliver my furniture. I changed my mind the next day and attempted to contact them (201-209-9099) once again to place my delivery on hold until further notice. Since I couldn’t reach them I contacted 1st Call Movers (954-606-9444) once again to contact their 3rd party delivery people and look up my information and place my delivery on hold until further notice. I stayed on the phone until it was confirmed that it was placed on hold. July 12th, Trent (559-273-1718 *a mover subcontracted by 1st Call Movers to deliver my furniture*) began calling to inform me (757-843-9270) that he was beginning his journey to deliver my furnishings. Trent called and texted my phone constantly because I didn’t have my phone on me so I wasn’t able to get back to him. (I left my phone at the job site I worked at July 12th so I missed all of my phone calls and text over that weekend.) I contacted Trent Monday and found out about his missed delivery and him placing my things into a storage facility here in Denver, CO so that I could hash out whatever discussions I had with 1st Call Movers. (This happened after I told him about my cancelled delivery.) Today I got a call from a 1st Call Movers delivery person (908-290-3543) telling me that if I wanted to receive my things I could either get it myself or pay a redelivery and storage fee to them. I contacted 1st Call Movers (954-606-9444) about this situation and they looked up my information and couldn’t find anything beyond my June 26th conversation with them about me inquiring about their off estimates. My question to you is what lawsuits (if any) can I bring about against them, and how should I go about doing it. Your assistance in this fiasco would be GREATLY appreciated! Sincerely, Akeem Smith
