Estimate was a lowball scam

Do NOT use these people. Bottom line, they run a lowball estimate scam...do a low bid, then give the gig to an unidentified subcontractor. So you have no recourse to the company you originally contracted with. We were inexperienced using movers and didn't realize these guys were brokers. Their modus operandi is to give low bids, then give the job to a subcontractor. In our case it was two random guys (supposed to have been three, and it was estimated based on # workers and hours), working with a rented trucik. When they picked up the origin they basically told my daughter that whoever bid it was wrong and instead of $850 it ended up being $1800. the driver could barely speak English and purposely made it into a confrontational argument. So I called First Call and they were less than useless...."it's not our responsibility, we're not the mover". And of course the mover couldn't speak English and had no idea how the bid was originally stated. The bottom line was we paid the difference and chalked it up to inexperience, but it sure made what was a stressful move even more so. Then they guy had the arrogance to complain that I didn't tip them. I won't go into the details of how poorly they did the job, but suffice to say, professionalism was definitely NOT in their vocabulary.
