BROKEN ITEMS, HIDDEN CHARGES

Submitted this review about Forward Van Lines
Review made Live: 2/8/2014 5:18:00 PM
I tried for more than seven months (through emails, phone calls and letters) to solve my problem directly with the company, but they keep creating excuses and items that never existed during my initial negotiation. We agreed with the price of 1460 dollars for my shipment. After loading the truck with all my furniture (of course this was not mentioned any time before), they mentioned that I had to pay extra 250 dollars for a "van service" because "the streets where the delivery was happening were too narrow and the truck would not be able to go through". However, the van never showed up, and the truck perfectly fitted in the garage. But I never saw the 250 dollars again. They keep mentioning that I did not pay for the 250,00 and they came out with excuses and extra items to explain the difference in charges between the quota (1463,00) with the final amount paid (1700,00). However I clearly remember the conversation on the phone with the manager who said "he would charge me 'only' 250 for that extra van- but in exchange I would have to go on Yelp and make great reviews about the company". Well you were right about me posting a review... I had many items damaged during transportation. My king size spring mattress was delivered folded with ropes, as if it was one of those thin foam mattresses. Despite their own employees had told me that he never saw a mattress being shipped like that, and had written with large letters the word "BROKEN" on my final documentation, they denied the damage. After long fights they offered me 60 dollars "to retain my customer goodwill" (mattress was 1500 dollars). I also had items like home theater and cabinet totally ruined. They offered me a check last month with the amount that does cover 10% of my damaged items. And if we add the 250,00 that they owe me... no comments. Not only I feel cheated, stolen, but I deeply regret for trusting a company that does not deserve to handle my personal belongings
