By writing this review, I hope I can change one person's mind if they're considering this company. I think that the "poor reviews" are legit and validXXXthey're lengthy but have details for one thing.
I lost my 20 year old daughter suddenlyXXXnothing is worse. I decided to relocate myself to Florida to be with my only other child/daughter because she's all I have left now. This move was a huge ordeal that took about 3 months (well could say 4 months since Go Pro made me wait over a month for my things.) In the beginning, customer service was greatXXXI would give them 5 stars on hiring awesome sales people that really know how to kiss ass. And I never even told Nathan about my deceased daughter til a few days before they were due to pick my things up!
I figured I had a one bdrm apt size worth of things to move so the price started out at $1624 for 3000 lbs. which continued to grow as I'd update my inventory list with Nathan. $2450 for 5000 lbs. was what we ended with. I was given the choice of working with weight or cubic feet and since I couldn't wrap my head around cubic feet, I went with weightXXXnot that it would have mattered, but, for the reader's info, cubic feet actually makes more sense. I arranged for 3 items to be specially packed by the movers also.
Three men arrived to pack my things up Feb 22nd. One man was the "supervisor" while the other two were the "work mules." The supervisor had me signing and initialing endless paperwork. He also would walk around "disapproving" of how I packed something and would instruct a mule to repack it again. Once everything was finally on the truck, the "wheeling & dealing" started. Their tactic is basically to totally confuse and/or send the customer into a panic, insisting there's double the weight/cubic ft. than what was originally estimated. Then he sprang an additional $1056 in "movers fees" for the special packaging (which was supposed to be included in the $2450) and the use of their boxes ect. OMG!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! And I couldn't begin to really explain to the reader what a joke this portion of the move was like, haggling over the amount, going around and around in circlesXXXbut keep in mind that your things are kinda being held for ransom in their truck so you better arrive at a fee. Mine was $4400XXXhalf then and the other half due upon delivery. Yes, almost DOUBLE what I thought it would cost! Luckily, I had room on a credit card to put the added cost. What do others do that don't have this luxury?!
And then I camped out in my empty condo for a month waiting for my things to arrive. I'd call 2-3x weekly but Nathan was no longer available. I think I got to speak with him twice in that month. I spoke to 3 others in total. No one ever knew where the truck was or the ETA. Go Pro kept my things in storage at their warehouse in San Fran forever until another truck could be "fully loaded" before it headed out in route. Three of my items were damaged. Boxes marked "UP" or "TOP" arrived upside downXXXie: memorial flowers that were in a large vase...
The worst thing is that my ring that I had custom made, which held some of my daughter's ashes, was stolen.. I cannot prove it, but I know, and God knows. The movers are the only explanation I've ever come up with.
All I have left to say about Go Pro is shame on them!
