I used Great American Moving for a move in early July 2013. I am really glad I did. First off, I had lived in the same 1-bed apartment for a decade. I can't even begin to tell you the amount of crap I had. I had tons of boxes piled up around furniture. The only way my wife & I could move around our apartment was via these aisles we left ourselves. I was worried about the amount of stuff. Plus, it was a fourth floor walk-up. And just to make it extra special, the weather decided last minute, that it would snow... a lot... the morning of the move. I figured on 4 hours for the move on a good day. I was betting on 6 now. Three guys showed up exactly on time- almost to the second. They were cheerful considering it was raining outside. And they moved all of stuff down four flights of stairs like it was all filled with Styrofoam. Just no problem for them. They loaded the truck in the middle of a rain storm and all of my stuff was still in great condition at the end. And they were making jokes and just as nice as could be. One issue was, that due to the rain, no one could confirm whether curbing our sofa (our plan all along) would be an issue or not. If they didn't pick it up due to the weather, we thought the building would get a fine. Since I had the month to ride out my old lease, the movers kind of suggested to me that maybe I could make a little money on Craigslist if I wanted to hold on to it. They kept insisting they'd move it down, but since I had the time, maybe I could make some money. I listened to them. So, they moved everything but the couch. I was little worried I'd get stuck with it. Then, a quick drive, and they started moving into my new place - one flight of stairs up. They finished in no time. Really. They unloaded the truck in probably under one hour. And just as they pulled the last piece out, the rain stopped. Of course it did. They were friendly, informed, strong, and fast. And there was zero damage to my belongings. Zero. One quick note - they told me it was the same price cash or credit. That's true. What they either forgot to mention or don't mention is that there is a small fee for using credit (I think it was like 2%.) So, in effect, it's more expensive to pay with credit. But, whatever. They were so fast I didn't care. In a rain storm, they moved me in four hours. After all that amazement, I had to leave town in an emergency. No time to plan. So, that couch that I thought I would sell on CL was still in my old place. It was the only thing there and my lease was coming to end. My wife called and spoke with Granger, and he arranged to have some guys pick it up and curb it for me anyway. Almost 2 weeks later. They are awesome. You'd be crazy not to use them. Can't say enough good things. My experience was obviously good enough that I came on online to make sure I let everyone know..
