A Horrible Experience

I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated by these movers. They are unprofessional, rude, and they have many hidden charges that they don't directly tell you about. First of all, their estimation process is very sketchy. I initially had a couch and overstuffed chair in my order, which I later removed, and their assessment only dropped about $50. When I called them about it, the price dropped considerably because I had removed such large items. I was told that there was a 'site manager' who could reassess cost/space/etc on the spot--in fact, as the estimate is JUST and estimate and non-binding, it should be done anyway. They only do this if you make them do it. THEN they called me after I had already signed my estimate contract for certain days and asked to change pick up days; I reluctantly agreed but made it clear that they would have to be there at one of those days because I was leaving the very next day. Needless to say, they didn't show up. They called up to tell us they would be there on Saturday between 6 and 8 A.M. Well, no one had called up by 10. No one was picking up at their offices. We FINALLY got through, and someone had the drivers call us, who then informed up they would be there on Sunday--a day after they were contracted to pick up. This was a problem as I had already told them we were leaving on Sunday very early. We had to hire someone to wait and sign all of the information. (We did convince them to pay us for the person who had to wait.) When they came to deliver, things got worse. The 'site manager' was incredibly rude to me. There was obviously no communication between drivers and Infinity home base, as the guy tried to overcharge me by almost $300, which I had already paid and the company had on record. There were also a LOT of 'hidden' fees. They say that you have to pay $75 after the first flight of stairs; what they don't tell you is one 'flight' is equal to 8 steps. What flight of steps do you know that is JUST 8 steps? They also only move the first 50 feet, adding on an additional $75 for each +50 ft...regardless of whether it's flat ground, easy access, etc. The person who handled my contract had assured me that the only extra fee I could possibly accrue would be the flight of stairs. The extremely rude driver told me he was going to leave all of my stuff 50 feet from the back of his truck if I didn't pay him an additional $225. I did call the Infinity and they waived the $225 fee since we spent almost 4 days trying to untangle the mess they'd made. All in all, this was a horrible experience; my boxes were not treated well at all, and my desk was salvageable. I would NOT use this company again, not for long cross-country moves. Their pick up is unreliable and it's enough of a headache just moving without adding these people on top of things.
