I was quoted around $3,500 and promised a 3-5 day lead time.
I was to pay $557 for packing and ended up being charged $1400. This is inexcuseable. I understand sometimes overages happen, but not $900 worth. And I believe I was being charged for things I had already packed in the "box count". They took all day to pack, and I appreciate the care they took in wrapping the stuff, but they were not professional and said that I had a lot of stuff for a single woman. That is none of your business.
They were to arrive with an 18-wheeler and leave for Austin from my townhouse in PA and they came with a small truck and went back to NY delaying the move a day. The fifth day would have been Friday and they didn't get to Austin until Monday. I incurred hotel fees for their lateness.
When they got here three days late, they did not bring the 18-wheeler down to the apartment, even though it would fit, and so went to rent a U-Haul, and charged me $500 which was not part of the original agreement, which a I had to pay or I would not have gotten my stuff.
The mover was rude and complaining about my steps and that I had a lot of stuff belonging on the second floor and they refused to take things where I wanted to after a while and I had to have a friend come over to move things for me a few days later.
And many itens were missed. Customer service is no help in getting me a claims form for these missing items, or in working with me to recover some of these unfair costs.
Just don't use this company. There are other fish in the sea.
