My $1671 move, per contract, turned out to $2800 move even though I gave them accurate list of my items with dimensions. They moved my pickup date not once but twice. Only after I told them about my flight tickets, they arranged for the pickup on the second day. The pickup guy arrived at 11pm in the night even though the scheduled pickup was in the afternoon. The first thing pickup guy said was that I had too much stuff even though I haven't deviated from the list of items I shared at the time of signing the contract. He asked for $2900 to pick up the stuff but offered a deal of $2500. In the middle of the night, I had no choice but to accept price increase. The sales rep, Emma, wasn't available to address my grievance. They delivered my stuff on time. There are other tricks to milk money at the time of the delivery.
The driver claimed that the big truck cannot be maneuvered through the apartment complex. So, he demanded additional $300 to start unloading my stuff. Again I had no choice but to pay up. Few days after drop off, I saw similar trucks of other moving companies pulling next to my Overall the move was very stressful
as they moved pickup dates at their will. I certainly won't recommend this company.
Suggestions for folks planning to move:
1. Negotiate the contract to be based on weight (lbs). Volume can never be verified.
2. Demand for the truck to be weighed before and after loading
3. Be clear on additional charges such as long drop
4. Pick a mover with some business ethics. I realize this is not easy.
