Movex, Inc.'s Broken Promises!

Submitted this review about MoveEx
Review made Live: 10/29/2010 11:30:00 AM
I contracted with Movex, Inc. six weeks prior to my move on Sept. 26, 2010 with a self-pack move from Massachusetts to Oregon of an estimated six feet of truck space. On Friday, less than 48 hours prior to my move, at 6:00 in the evening, I received a call from Movex asking if I had any 'flexibility' in my move because they had been unable to locate a truck for my move. The unemotional kid on the line was unsympathetic and suggested maybe I should 'make other arrangements'... however, he said often in these situations they find a truck within a couple of days. So, since I had really liked the sales guy I set the contract up with, and because Movex was cheapest, I decided to wait. After 5 days of broken promises of return phone calls (literally each day they'd say they would call me first thing the next morning and then I wouldn't get any call) and different customer service reps feeding me no information and false hope each day, I finally decided to go with another moving company. I had no choice as I was visiting MA and had to fly home to Oregon and had to get my things on a moving truck before I left. Not to mention being completely fed up with Movex's failure. I went with U-Pack (ABF) Moving and actually saved money by picking up my shipment in Portland, OR. I will go write a good review of U-Pack on this same site. I do not recommend Movex - they have a few of their own trucks but they contract out the majority of their trucks and if they can't find a truck and driver willing to drive for them, you are just out of luck and there's nothing they can do! This is totally unacceptable for a moving company!! What if I had to be out of my house or apartment on the move date? And calling on a Friday night to inform me I wouldn't have a truck on Sunday morning? Totally unforgivable as it gives me no time to secure an alternate company. Karen
