Ori Van Lines relocated our office from San Jose CA to SANTA FE NM. Joseph told me that their company specializes in long distance moves.
They came to our office and gave us an on site estimate. Mike explained us that although the on site estimate is very accurate we will still pay by the actual weight of our move.
They also explained that moving companies usually do two kinds of on site estimates:
One is an onsite estimate that is not binding and the price is by actual weight
(Other companies did not explain that to us).
The second kind of estimate is a binding estimate, which is usually over rated (sometimes 50% or more from the price) so the moving company is at safe side and cannot loose money.
Joseph and Mike the estimator where really honest and explained me that the best way is paying for what you move and the rate is per LBS.
They even invited me to come with them to the public scale station to see the weighing for myself. They weigh the trucks before and after the pickup.
On Sunday morning 3 huge trailers parked next to our office and something like 18 movers started to work efficiently in our 43,000 Sq. feet office building.
The move was smooth and the charges where really simple (price per LBS and price for packing material)
We had 57,400LBS (by the way the estimate was 54,900LBS- pretty accurate)
So I am writing you from our new office in New Mexico with a smile :)
