I've moved a lot in my life. Between divorced, nomadic parents and my own young broke instability, I have had a total of 23 addresses in 25 years. So you'd think that moving would diminish in stressfulness as I got proportionally more practiced at it, right? It doesn't really. I mean, it's pretty much second nature at this point, and I habitually keep my personal belongings to a minimum. I mean, fresh start, clean slate, yada yada. It's still a giant pain in the a**. So, I've used a lot of different movers. And city people mostly need movers for three things: moving furniture bought on Craigslist on short notice, hauling heavy things up stairs into tight and awkward spaces, and moving whole apartments every couple years. So the city is rife with movers, but it's amazing how shady the whole ordeal can be. Especially considering it's so highly regulated by the state.. Especially when you find them on Craigslist. This time, I decided to class it up a little and find my movers based on personal recommendations. And by that I mean the bathroom graffiti. No, I'm kidding. So, the best thing about Ori van lines is how professional, transparent (which, I guess, would be the opposite of shady?), friendly, accessible, and reassuring they are. They tell you a price, which is what you will actually pay per hour for the number of guys they will actually send you. Unlike other movers who call you 20 minutes beforehand and say they're bringing two extra guys to "get it done faster." They are transparent about extra costs, like how it's a little more per hour on Sundays (because it's the Lord's day and that's how my people do and I'm fine with that.) They are precise about scheduling and show up on time. That should be pretty basic, but is surprisingly not that common. ORI is also better than your average mover in the professionalism department.
