ORI VAN LINES was flawless. After my previous move, a nightmarish cross-town gulag courtesy of Starving Students movers, I dreaded handing my cargo to another pack of strangers for my trip from Dallas to LA. But there was nothing to fear. I never thought I'd want to hug five sweaty brick house ex-cons until the guys at ORI moved my stuff.
After several hours of Internet research, I settled on ORI for their consistently high rankings among SF movers. They dropped by for an estimate and scheduled a move for the next week. Five guys showed up early and humped a few thousand pounds of crap down a five story stairwell (no elevator) in less time than it took me to pack the silverware. They packed and handled my crusty old junk like it was King Tut's treasure on its way to the national archive. I didn't have a box for my plasma TV, so they built a custom crate in advance of the move.
Their rates are competitive, but ultimately I had quite a bit more stuff than they originally estimated (they charged by weight, not by the hour), so when I got the bill I was a little shocked... because it was *less* than the original quote. What? More stuff = lower charge? Unbelievable.
They don't advertise, so word of mouth is their sole marketing currency. They don't take credit or checks, so have a stack of greenbacks ready. They accept tips
This was an outstanding move.
