Please Do Not Move With Proud American

My fiancé and I researched 17 different companies before deciding on Proud American for our move to California from Oklahoma. We looked up the DOT registration, insurance verification and the BBB rating. Everything came back positive. The Better Business Bureau rating was an A- when we hired the company. It is now an F. The movers arrived three hours after the window and charged more than the original "binding contract." I had been on the phone with Jack for weeks before the move confirming and adjusting our numbers so we could avoid any additional fees. We were charged an additional $200 that night. We were also expected to tip as a favor to the driver for picking up items at two locations; even though the contract clearly states that an additional pickup is available and comes at not additional charge. Pick up occurred 36 days ago. We have now called Proud American Moving over 20 times with 12 of those being recorded phone calls where we repeatedly asked for information about our items. Every call ended in three ways: put on hold indefinitely, sent to voice mail where our calls were never returned or just hung up on. This link illustrates the numerous BBB complaints that have occurred. http://www.dallas.bbb.org/article/complaints-surge-on-proud-american-moving-29104 This link shows the out of service operating status: http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&original_query_param=NAME&query_string=1393119&original_query_string=PROUD%20AMERICAN%20MOVING%20INC We are not alone in our complaints. If you are reading this, you were like us... Trying to do your best to find a good company at a good rate. Sure, some people have problems but every business has a few bad apples right? That's what I told myself. We have paid the company over $1,200 so far and they have our entire two households on that truck... A truck that is no where to be found. We've contacted the Oklahoma City Police Department and are pursuing legal action in hopes that we might get some of our things back. At this point, it's not about the big ticket items... It's about baby photos, scrapbooks, yearbooks and (as a professional singer) over 20 years of music. We are getting married in a few weeks and wanted so badly to start a home and a life together... It is by the kindness of others that we have a bed to sleep on and a light to read by. PLEASE do not use this company. Email me. Talk to others. Look to the other websites that haven't been inundated with positive reviews that are lies. I regret not spending the additional extra hundred dollars and going with a company that friends and family had already used. Best of luck with your search... I sincerely hope that you don't decide to use Proud American Movers.
