After our first mover did not show up as scheduled, I contacted another "mover" who turned out to be a broker (which he did not disclose at the time). On the day of the move, State Wide Relocation shows up with a 28ft. box truck and two guys - one of which spoke virtually no English. I asked why they brought such a small truck when the house was a 4+ bedroom of over 3000 sq. ft. (I was told that a 53ft. semi truck would be sent when I scheduled the move). After "Mike" (the one who could speak English) had a look around, he informs me that the price of the move has increased. What? I said I have a guaranteed binding quote for roughly $9500 and I provided a detailed inventory list to the broker. He says, "Well, it's going to more if you want us to move it. The total is now $23000, but I'll make you a deal and do it for $18,500." I thought he was kidding, but no he was serious. Then, I ask where the other guys are to help load as two guys are going to take days and days to load and never meet our drop off schedule. He assures me that more guys are on the way. During the course of the day, "Mike" approached me and asked if I wanted to sell a large fireplace mantel and I said that would be fine as we were plannning to sell the house. He offered me $200 and said he'd pay $100 now and the other $100 when the load was delivered (needless to say, I never saw Mike or the other $100 ever again). When the truck arrived in AZ, the driver is the only person in the truck. I ask when he is going to start unloading and he informs me that "he is just the driver, he doesn't load or unload" and that some local guys are being sent out. Apparently State Wide Relocation sub-contracted the unloading to a local firm who send TWO guys. Again, two guys to unload an enormous trailer in 110+ degree weather. It took them almost three full days to unload during which the driver of the truck complained the whole time about being late for a pickup in Los Angeles. When I got everything unpacked, I discovered many broken items and multiple missing items. I contacted Precision Van Lines who was the broker and to this day have never received any communication from, nor has State Wide Relocation contacted me. Anyone know what to do when they won't contact you so you can file a claim? The move was in June of 2012, but I've had it. They overcharged me, broke stuff, and stole items. I want justice.
