I posted a similar review to Moving Across Country because I booked the move through Straight Forward Moving but Moving Across Country came to pick up my items so I believe that the name was changed. So just to let people know this is probably the same company and they are changing their name to cover up bad reviews. When I originally booked with this company all the reviews online for Straight Forward Moving were good and the quoted price I received was excellent so I decided to go with them. I booked with Barry. First off after I booked the move I was unable to get ahold of Barry to locate what time they thought the movers would be there to pick up my items. I wanted to make sure that I knew and would be there in time to receive my stuff since I was moving so far from NY to Georgia. I was originally told 1-7 days on the phone and no later than 7 days. Well when the movers came to pick up my items the paperwork said 7-10 days which is not what I was told. I was also not told that I needed to pay 50 percent by money order and if I paid by credit card I would get charged 5%. So I had to leave my apartment with the movers there with my stuff to go pick up a money order which was difficult to do since they came at 4 and pretty much all banks were closed. I was told by Barry just to buy "plastic wrap" for the furniture so I bought what I thought constituted as plastic wrap but apparently I bought the wrong kind and the movers gave me attitude saying that they should charge me more because they had to use tape to secure the plastic wrap. Then the movers got caught in a lie because I said don't you provide that it says that you do. The movers said no only blankets. But later the movers complained about the plastic wrap and said it should be the stretch wrap but they don't have any because they used it all previously on the previous person they picked up. So therefore they lied and said they do not provide it when they actually do but they did not come prepared for two shipments. The movers were rude and tried to pick a fight about this. I was given a number to contact regarding where my stuff would be and to see the status. Every time I tried calling them I would get a different story. I was told that it would be arriving on the weekend which is 10 days after it was picked up. I then called that morning to make sure and was told it was not scheduled till Monday-Wed next week. I then called back to see if I could talk to someone else and was put on hold for 40 minutes. They obviously just want you to hang up. I then researched if I could find the warehouse number to contact the movers themselves. When I called them they told me it was in fact scheduled for the weekend from 1-6. So I got completely different stories from the main number and the warehouse. I called the next morning to see if they were on schedule and they said they were .I always had to call them they never called me. They never called me to tell me they were running late and by the time 6 came they were not here. I called again and was told they wouldn't be there till 8. Well 8 came and they were still not there and never received a call. I called them back and was told now its 9-9:30. I called at 9:30 and they said they were 10 minutes away. I was never contacted an hour before hand like I was told and I had to continually call them. I didn't receive my stuff till 10 pm when I was originally told between 1-6. They lost one of my bar stool and damaged the other one and my TV stand. I now have to file a claim online which I'm sure I will get nowhere with. I tried calling the main line again because the movers told me to call and ask for Rony or Juan regarding my lost items and I was put on hold for an HOUR. I waited because I was so furious and wanted to speak to someone but its obvious they just put you on hold and wait for you to hang up. I would NEVER go through this company again. It was a complete nightmare. They lied multiple times to me, this company shouldn't be in business. They are deceptive and extremely difficult to get ahold of and rude. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. It is ridiculous to get your furniture at 10 pm. And I was told they do not deliver on weekend by the movers that came to pick up my items and then told when I called the warehouse that they do. There obviously is no communication with this company and I would never do this again. Next time I will do it myself.
