First, let's start with the price. Upon completing my estimate, I was told the cost would be $3,755.40 based on 7,966 lbs. This move was for my ex-wife moving to Kentucky, so it involved moving about 1/2 of our possessions within a 3 bedroom house. I paid my deposit of $1,126, but once the movers showed up, they told me that it would be higher because there were more items than were on the initial list. Admittedly, there were more items, but the ultimate full price came out to $8,390, 125% higher than the estimate. There is no way that the items exceeded 125% of the original estimate. The final moving contract stated the total goods were 2,200 cu feet. We lived in a 1900 square foot house, where my ex-wife was taking only items from the master bedroom and bath, office, kitchen, guest room, and a few items from other rooms of the house. She approximately took maybe 60% of the items in the house, which seems to imply our total move would have been about 3,700 cu. feet. From most of the online approximations I have found, this would seem to imply our house was at least twice as big as it is. I have no doubt that the amount of items may have been slightly higher than the original estimate. She had probably 30-40 more boxes than I originally estimated, but I don't see how it was short by more than double. The original estimate of $3,755.40 was in line with other estimates I had received. I ultimately chose Trans United, which apparently was the worst decision I could have made. Aside from getting completely swindled on the cost, the time of move was horrendous. First off, the sales rep, Joe, told me that the total move would only take about 3-4 days. Admittedly the contract states between 14-21 days, but I took Joe's word and didn't see this clause in the contract until later. Going off the knowledge of 3-4 days, here is the circumstance of the move: June 30 - Movers picked up the items July 8 - I called to inquired why the goods had not arrived, was told they were just waiting on my check to clear, and that the goods would go out for delivery this week. July 12 - After not hearing back from the movers, I called to ask for an update, was told the items would be leaving on Saturday. July 16 - After not hearing anything back from the movers, I called to get an update and was told the items would be leaving on Saturday. After saying this was what I was told the previous week, I was told that there were issues with the truck and that they were unable to leave the previous week, but it would definitely leave this Saturday. July 23 - I called to get an update, and was told that the items were still in Dallas and that they would leave in 1-2 days. I stated that I was told they were supposed to leave the previous Saturday, and was told they had a slight delay, but were set to go out within the next couple of days. July 26 - Called again to see what was going on with the move, and was told the items would go out within 1-2 days. I stated that this was a repeat of what I was told on the last call, and was told that they couldn't speak to what I was told on the last call, but that they definitely would go out within 1-2 days. July 29 - Called again, and guess what, I was told the items were still in Dallas and would leave in 1-2 days. After trying to stay cool throughout this process, I started to lose it. I explained that this was the third time I was told this same story. The girl I talked to was very nice, and explained to me that this was the first time I had spoken to her, and that she would personally track this job and make sure it left. August 1 - Called again, and was told once again 1-2 days until it left Dallas. At this point I gave an ultimatum. I would give it one last chance, but if I called on Monday and the items were still not in transit, I would be left no choice but to contact a lawyer. August 5 - Called and finally, progress. I was told the items left the previous Saturday, August 3, and that they would be delivered in the next 3-5 days. August 7 - Received my first call from Trans United, telling me that there was yet another problem with the truck, but that the delay would only be 1-2 days, and I would still receive the goods by the end of the week. August 13 - After waiting through the weekend, I called and was told that the drivers were in Tennessee and that they would be delivering the items either Wednesday, August 14 or Thursday, August 15. August 19 - Finally, after 51 days (36 business days), the goods were finally delivered. Before posting this review, I contacted Robert (from the email address on this site) and shared what I have posted above. He agreed this was unacceptable and said he would work toward a resolution in a couple of days. 2 weeks and 3 attempt from me to contact him and he has gone radio silent. Not sure why I am surprised. Finally, it appears I am not the only one that had this experience with TransUnited. Here is a link to an article from the news that did an investigation after another customer had a similar issue: http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/region/macomb_county/movers-still-have-a-local-familys-furniture-and-belongings-46-days-after-their-move-from-texas. Do not believe the positive reviews on this site (I wish I hadn't) and don't choose TransUnited for your move (if you want it completed on time and for a fair amount).
