Submitted this review about World moving services
Review made Live: 11/18/2008 8:32:00 AM
This is a copy that I had submitted for A-Topps as well, in addition I added on to the end regarding my experience with WORLD MOVING SERVICES. WMS is a brokerage firm which subcontracts to many different companies. Unfortunately I was dealt the short straw and got A-Topps. I just moved to a position down south, along with me was among other things brand new; cooking set, knife set, and silver-ware set. I also had a Jade mattress, and numerous DVD's, an 8mm camcorder, and 2 other boxes which vanished. These things are not the items that are keeping me up at night(it is 5 AM and I have been unable to sleep since 3). The things that are keeping me up, are the personal possessions, an 8mm tape of my sisters high school graduation, pictures of my grandfather, family vacation albums among others ALL OF WHICH CAN NOT BE REPLACED! I beg anyone who must move to take items that you hold so closely to you with you regardless, god forbid you must go through what I am right now. For gods sake mail those items if need be!! The delivery man was a nice guy and very helpful in the hope that my items were further forward the truck( after they left, but still very helpful and i thank him for it). The items that I did receive were packed with care. The warehouse took about a week to locate my lost items to no avail. My guess is that someone just saw the label DVD on the side of the one container, and the Pots and Pans were new in box, so that would be easy to spot. After finally saying today that we need to move forward (I have been eating out since 10/12 when I moved down here to begin work, and the lease began on the 1st, I just didn't want to go out and buy new pots and pans), I was given the number of the insurance company and told "good luck" which did not make me the least bit happy. I still have hope, but i know my odds. I also have someones yellow tool box(lot #J2218 item # 172 READS VAN SERVICE), and a vintage lamp(Same lot number as mine!?!?!SERIOUSLY/WRECKLESS!?!?!?! SS2526 Item # 085) from two other different moves. I have contacted the moving company, and hope that they will pick these items up from me and get them to their owners. I hope that my experience was a fluke, if that not be the case, it would be border line criminal. A-Topps was subcontracted through "WORLD MOVING SERVICES," which was the first part of this 20 day migraine. If you see this company, run far far away. As soon as I signed there was an apparent downward progression of the broker caring about me(not A-Topps, World moving services), A-Topps Customer service just took a little longer to get back to me on the subject of attempting to find my items. I wish that the moving company would realize how difficult it would be for them to survive if i romped through their own house and took 30% of their items at random. It is costly and does not allow someone to feel the home-ness that sentimental items provide. I have been eating my cereal with throw away forks for the last 8 days because i simply cant afford to buy a good set again(did it 2 weeks ago, along with pots and pans and have those bills to pay), and they now expect me to have to purchase a new set of pots and pans, AND THEN ARGUE WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. PLEASE! Enough is enough at one point, I will learn this lesson and walk away with much wisdom about what needs to be done in life and who to trust to do it (you bet i will move my own things from now on) I will drive then hire loaders/unloaders. I paid close to 2000(including an additional 250 for about 6 large boxes which they placed my items in, with packing paper!!) dollars to move 532 miles and lost over 1600 dollars in material items not including anything sentimental. Learn from this. World Moving services advised me that the items would be at my new house in 2 days, instead they were transported up to New York, stolen, then the remainder of my items were finally given to me on 11/9, 11 days after the initial pick up. This company does not care about you after you sign, they subcontracted A-Topps moving services which proceeded to loose my most valuable items. Looking back, I feel hustled.
