I moved from NY to England. I chose them after receiving numerous quotes, including one from Unity Van Lines.
I initially spoke with Alexandra who was honest... I had intially estimated that my volume was 200 cubic foot, after a conversation with Alexandra she advised that the volume seemed more like 100 cubic foot, and advised that she would provide a cheaper quote. She never supplied the rate per cubic foot in either quote. I did not know that though the quote was cheaper, the rate per cubic foot was more expensive, so was quite unnerved when I received the initial invoice at this higher rate for an actual volume of 217 cubic feet! However Alexandra had the amount adjusted.
Unnerving however was the fact that I received the second invoice from their account department with a signature stating the company as Unity Van Lines. I started to research the company and found numerous complaints, so I asked about insurance, citing these complaints and also with which company I was entrusting my goods. Received no replies to numerous emails.
Long story short,
-The items were delayed in shipment and arrival. Shipment took 6 weeks, not 4 - 5 as quoted.
-Pay attention to the charges not included in the quote, THC is an additional $150
-Pay attention to the rate per cubic foot, not the final quote
-Keep on top of them via email or phone for an update on status of your shipment.
I dealt with possibly 5 different companies / sub-agents in this move (packer in NY, Echo Trans World agent, Accounting agent, Shipment agent on the American side, Agent on the English side).
However, my items were delivered undamaged, no problem with customs, and both packers and movers on the other side were professional and helpful.
In conclusion, you may save some money contracting with this company; however, for peace of mind, I would pay the extra and go with a more reputable company to move all your worldly goods to your new country.
