Statewide movers destroyed my property

My quote was from Nationwide Movers, but actual move was handled by Statewide Movers out of Carrollton, TX. after the inital quote, all paperwork was exchanged with Statewide, such as CC authorization. When I first was in contact with nationwide/statewide Movers I was amazed at the customer service. They were very willing to work with me on pick up and delivery as well as free optional storage for 1 month. Also, realizing the value of my antique china cabinet, he suggested I pay an additional $75 to crate it for protection. When the move actually happened I realized how wrong I was. Driver called to tell me he was delivering in 3 days - no other option. If I could not take delivery my goods would go in storage at a price of $350. When delivered I would need $250 cash to pay the driver. I told my CS rep that a shuttle would need to be used on my street. "No worries, it will be on a small truck". $250 was for a uHaul once in NYC for the driver. When I questioned CS rep, he denied I told him that. Biggest issue: the china cabinet was destroy. the "crating" was a cardboard box with bubble wrap. 2 legs were broken complete off as well as the trim, the mirror on top was snapped off. front door was shattered, shelves and key were missing, and the door was locked. The problem was, when the non-english speaking driver picked up the load he pointed to where my brother should sign the paperwork, one was an insurance option for $.60/pound value. The other option was "full replacement value". My opinion is the insurance should have been discussed during the quote process so it could be factored into the cost. After filling out the claim form, I was offered $72 for the damages - not even enough to cover the cost of the "crate" I paid for. Once I received the quote, I asked how we would know the actual cost since the estimate was based on assumed weight. CS rep indicated the truck would be weighed after pickup and quote would be adjusted based on actual weight. This did not happen - I was charged exactly the amount on my quote. Do not use this shady moving company
