I wish I had read all these reviews BEFORE I used WWVL

My story is quite similar to many I have read here. The fellow who gave me the quote seemed helpful and knowledgable. Even though I reiterated on numerous occasions that the reason I chose WWVL was that they were a nationwide company, not a small operation; it was never made clear to me that they are a broker and not an actual moving company. My job was farmed out to a small operation. The truck broke down twice and was delayed for almost two weeks so that I had to extend my stay at the destination location. Not only could they not commit to a range of dates for pickup and delivery (let alone a specific date), but the job was not even assigned to the mover until the day before they came for pickup, even though I had notified WWVL weeks before as to my preferred dates. I overestimated my items because I was not sure if I would take some items or not. I was told (by WWVL) that I would receive a refund if the actual weight was less. The mover told me they would not refund any of my money, even if the actual weight was less. So I ended up paying more for the move than I needed to. I was also not told that I had the option of obtaining additional insurance. I was repeatedly told that replacement value was 60 cents per pound. The mover told me I could have obtained additional insurance, but I would have had to obtain that ahead of time. This left me to worry about my belongings for the entire trip, including the two extra weeks while the truck was broken down. I called customer service twice during my move and left messages. Neither call was ever returned. Do not use this company. They are not truthful and their customer service is appalling.
